If you notice, boxing no longer has the large number of black Americans it used to have. That's because 70 years or more ago, boxing was the only sport open to blacks to compete with whites. When other sports opened up, blacks went there. Better health insurance, regular salaries.

(Ken Norton was a boxer who fought Muhammad Ali and many others. He had a son, who was expected to be a boxer...instead the son chose american football. Regular salary, no living from purse to purse.).

Exactly the story from his coach. His coach or so further said that he was already 40 years old, overweight and took the fight at very short notice. That 500 was an additional to the agreed sum. I believe that the fight amount would be forwarded to whoever is his next of kin.

Boxing and other forms of combat sports are very dangerous. Do not engage if you are not fit.

It is so sad, so painful. The only son. What a loss. He needed the money to settle some bills and probably give his mum some.
