Got me thinking about how I carry phones around when I travel and if this was more alarmist.
There was a 2nd article that gave a counter that a burner would elicit more suspicion at the border to delete pertinent messages instead.

As a citizen you have a right to enter the US, but I believe they still have the right to search your devices if they want.
Also Carrying a Nigerian passport and/or coming from Nigeria, I'm sure raises that possibility.
Has anybody changed up what they carry when they travel and if so, how?

option b - wipe your phone and carry a phone with burner accounts. i recently got a new line and this will not show up in truecaller as ** engr oyel** . this means when i am cold calling suppliers they wont see my id and immediately jack up the price. same can apply for situations like this. if you check my phone and all you see are barely used dummy accounts we are good.

Because of this Nigerians often clear all bank sms from their phones. There is a particular profile they are looking for - mostly young men. Though they also profile older men in Lexus vehicles

If you can buy glasses with a camera in them, you will have a lot of wicked fun messing police up

They are all in on it from the lowest ranks to the highest echelon (abba kyari who was a 'supercop' on the fast track to be ig was implicated as an enforcer for high level yahoo boys)

But if they are caught on camera they will be disavowed.

Yeah, was somewhat surprised how quickly it escalated and how quickly they swarmed the car. But got to see firsthand what people were complaining about. Was absolutely unnecessary and escalatory.
They eventually let us go without any "payment". Probably would have ended differently for a lot of people.

But that phone experience and a recent experience of my bank shorting me a good amount of money(repeat transactions) made me change how I bank when I am there (segregated accounts).

1.) Hardly life shattering for me. Gave me a new perspective on what some Nigerians go through and protecting my devices.
2.) Nobody manhandled my boy. The security agents were in a worse position than he was. And they realized it in the end.

i am not referring to google glass per se - my understanding is there are stealth recording devices - which may include fake glasses with small cameras
