Repent means turnaround or turn away.

John the baptist, Jesus of Nazareth and his disciples used this only for Israelites who knows the commandments of their God not people of the nations who don't have the same laws.
So it makes no practical sense telling a Yorùbá man who worships Ṣàngó to repent when he already believes in good deeds!

And that was over 2000 years ago! How do you define near?

There was no Jesus, let alone urging anybody to represent.

Repentance or being born again comes from the SNAKE shedding its old skin to acquire new one.

The snake does that regularly, so ancient people corelated that to being a person making a change in his/her life and turning around embracing new ways.

That's why your Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away"

It's important that you know that the concept of "Christ" has been for millions of years in inner Africa before your Jesus, so the author of Corinthians is not actually talking about Jesus.

For me there's no difference between heaven and hell (if it's exactly like the Christians and Muslims description). If I end up in heaven and my mom or wife or friend or relative is in hell I'll be overwhelmed by depression and probably commit suicide. In fact knowing billions of people, including good people are being tortured for eternity is more than enough to drive the people in heaven to depression. People in heaven will be just as sad and depressed as those in hell. However, I believe they are just fiction to threaten people to fall in line and to also give hope to the bottom barrels in the world. Instead of going after the elites that have ruined their lives they believe God will help them burn and torture them
