In Ghana’s Central Region, a group of young men caught a sea turtle but chose to release it back into the ocean where it rightfully belongs.

A video showing the moment they returned the turtle quickly went viral, earning widespread praise for their thoughtful and compassionate act—especially in contrast to others who might have turned the giant sea turtle into a meal.

In some parts of Africa, sea turtles and other wild animals are often considered delicacies. This is also true in certain parts of Asia, such as regions of China where seafood and exotic animals are popular.

We the Foropa fishermen from southern Ijaw will roast you alive and consume you with a nice Gin.

That Turtle is lucky it navigated and managed to give the shores of Nigeria a wide berth! Had it made mistake and somehow found itself in Nigeria, by now it would have been the star attraction in a number of stew pots!

In fairness, it stands a chance of living to tell the tale if it washes up on the shores of most coastal states. But Bayelsa? Forget it! The poor Turtle would be as good as dead!
