Abstract

This means that after 3 months of a system being powered off in an environment that is at 40C or less, there is a potential of data loss and/or drive failures. This power off time limitation is due to the physical characteristics of Flash SSD media's gradual loss of electrical charge over an extended power down period. There is a potential for data loss and/or flash cell characteristic shift, leading to drive failure.

Let me help you out, the thing circled is a heatsink for the 2 M.2 drives underneath.
I have the hdd there because though slower, they are still dependable. I use it to store data that is barely accessed that I want on that computer if I can't ever access my server.
It was a purposeful design choice when I built the computer, though I have other larger unused ssds.

I have loads of ssd I keep out of systems for more than a year. No issues. They can go 10 years without issue.

The jjc does not know that while a hdd will give warnings before it is about to fail, an ssd failure is instant.

Happened to me once. My son had a silicon power ssd in his pc and it just stopped. No warning.

The boy also doesn't know that ssds will eventually wear out based on how much data is written to them
