Tariffs are a leverage Every other country is rushing to DC to negotiate. True you can't force nations to buy Teslas or other products, there are commodities that every nation produces and had to protect.
America can literally produce anything , most @ higher cost but quality is guaranteed.
If I need to buy anything American made I go for quality.
Whatever we get from Chinese for Africa market is just meant to work as bought new, most don't live up to their reputation. Chinese products for Europe and America market is good quality mainly because they are stringent on standards.
If America blocked Chinese imports , Africa will get high quality products. Cheap is expensive .

You just can't have zero tariffs on every product. If the tariffs were fair noone would be cursing Trump for enacting tariffs.
Whether China agrees to remove all taxes, America can't do the same because most of the manufacturing is outside of America and in China specifically . When Trump 1.0 introduced tariffs to China ,a lot of their companies moved to Vietnam. Others set up shop in Canada and Mexico where they could manufacture in China,then assemble in Mexico and send them tarif free to your doorstep.
I don't know why you people are bitter when Trump is basically saying. We are their biggest market ,we need to be able to sell to them too.
