💔 When Love Gets a Visa: How a Bride-to-Be Ditched Her Fiancé Weeks to Their Wedding

You think you’ve heard it all, then life (or love?) throws a wild twist. Just recently, a shocking story popped up on my timeline that had me doing a double take — and I had to share it here. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

A Nigerian lady reportedly canceled her wedding just weeks before the big day, which was originally scheduled for April 22nd. And no, it wasn’t cold feet or last-minute drama. According to a source on X (formerly Twitter), the bride-to-be called it quits because of another man — an abroad-based suitor her mother allegedly introduced her to.

Yes, you read that right. Her own mother allegedly played Cupid from across the ocean.

Now imagine being the fiancé, probably sending out final reminders, confirming bookings, and maybe even rehearsing vows — only to find out your partner has chosen “Team Japa” (aka the overseas life) over you.

Heartbreaking? Yes. Messy? Very. Unexpected? Not so much in today’s world.

Whether it’s pressure from family, the allure of greener pastures, or just chasing a dream life abroad, relationships are facing new kinds of crossroads. But where do we draw the line between love and opportunity?

Let me know what you think — would you blame the lady, the mother, or chalk it up to destiny doing its thing?

I always say, "A broken relationship is better than a broken marriage." He should actually be thankful they haven’t tied the knot yet, rather than stressing over it now. In every relationship or marriage that isn't working, the red flags were there from the beginning, but sometimes we ignore them, thinking things will change. The truth is, a relationship or marriage should bring peace, not distress. It's important to recognize when things aren’t right early on and make decisions that protect your mental and emotional well-being. Sometimes, ending things before it gets more complicated is the best choice for both parties involved. Here I dropped my pen 🖊️

When a man sells his brother to the enemy, even his enemy would not trust him

Probably part of the reason she left, is the prospect of a better life.

Nothing should affect the finances of man abroad o. She would also leave him in a heart beat

Awon highest bidder

You don't have the slightest comprehension about women and money

The planned wedding doesn't even look like a forced one

Obviously, The abroad guy is loaded than the Nigerian guy

The man abroad will most likely than not show them shege.

First step will be crushing their expectations of her moving abroad with him.

In all, for the disappointed groom, better a failed relationship than a failed marriage.
I hope and pray the abroad husband is buoyant and proud enough to refund him all he has spent. 🙏

Wishing the man all the best.
Wishing the lady best of luck too. She must have her reasons. We look, we don't judge.
