Just like there are things about village life that might make it better than City life
Just like there are things about living in Nigeria that might make it better than living in the US

There are things in the 50s that might be better than now

But overall In my opinion, I will rather live now than in the 50s
You are speaking from hindsight. In the 1950s, they had the best tech and cars to drive because they didn't have anything to compare their tech to.

So, they are prioritizing other races to reflect the community better?
That would be your ignorant understanding.

A better understanding is they are encouraging other races that don't apply to apply since a police force that reflects the community polices the community better.

Haba! shocked shocked

Funfact and you took it serious. Funfacts are generated for fun. Never to be taken serious.
I can say I trekked from onitsha to lagos crossing 7 oceans and seas. That's a fun fact. Or my greatgrandfather was a professor of oratory in 1920
Clinton (Dem) left a prosperous economy.
“ Overall. Clinton presided over the following economic results, measured from January 1993 to December 2000, with alternate dates as indicated: Average real GDP growth of 3.8%, compared to average growth of 3.1% from 1970 to 1992. The economy grew every quarter”

Crashed by Bush (republican)
“The last year of Bush's second term was dominated by the Great Recession. GDP declined in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th quarters of 2008 by -2.7%, -1.9% and -8.2%, respectively.”

Obama (Democrat fixed it)
“ President Obama took office in the middle of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, at a time the economy was losing over 700,000 jobs a month and in the midst of what we now know was the worst 6-month period for GDP growth in over 60 years. To respond to the crisis, the President took immediate, bold, and effective action, signing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into law less than a month after taking office, helping to create jobs and make the investments we need to out-innovate, out-educate and out-build the competition so we can create true economic security for the middle class.”

Trump came in and crashed it. Blamed it on Covid. Whatever. He had the excuse to hide behind.

Biden came one and dragged us out of the literal pit of economic mess that Trump made.

“ Real GDP grew 5.9% during Biden's first year, the fastest rate since 1984. Amid record job creation, the unemployment rate fell at the fastest pace on record during Biden's first year, from 6.4% in January 2021 to 3.9% by December 2021.”
“President Joe Biden will leave the White House with a strong economy, historic gains in the job market, a foundation for future manufacturing growth, and having brought down decades-high inflation without triggering a recession.

Those feats, economists say, are even more impressive considering the nation was deep in the throes of a deadly, economy-scarring pandemic when Biden took office.”

Now Trump is back. And look at the mess we’re in again. Hundreds of thousands of jobs lost. In the verge of depression. Millions just lost chunks of their retirement.

These are facts not the gaslighting non truths the right wing perpetrates.

Give Trump a few years and him and his followers will deny he ever crashed the markets in 2025. Truth and republicans do not exist in the same universe

In the 50s, USA had half the world's GDP and that's because the World had spent the previous decade destroying itself in a World War while USA was untouched and selling much needed goods to them.

How does Nia Malika Henderson view reflect a leftist view? Just slow down on your hate for the left, just because they decided not to be dumb.

And isn’t it ironic that the same right that opposed the PRO Act, which was designed to benefit blue-collar workers through stronger union protections, now claims to value those very workers? This sudden love deserves our attention and discuss.

Republican never ever vote for worker’s rights.
They hate unions.
They hate livable wages
They hate paid parental leave

These are all facts. These are all stuff republicans senators vote against every single time.

Yet they manage to convince their constituents that they’re for them. It’s a wonder of the world

They fear that strengthening unions will challenge the interests of their wealthy allies who benefit from maintaining the status quo. Ensuring fair labor practices, unions can advocate for better wages and working conditions, which threatens the profit margins of those who prefer to operate without accountability.

The left is the party that demonize the blue collar working class which is why they all moved towards Trump
Which is why the Teamsters refused to endorse a democrat for the first time in decades

What is a livable wage? Every state has different living conditions even every city has different standard of living, An employer if free to offer what they deem competitive in their locality and employees free to take it or walk away.

No one has a right to a job, Its between you and your employer. If you hire workers in your house its based on her doing what you want and you paying her when due. Each person is free to negotiate their own working terms without a union

A minister was asked if the UK has been “caught kissing the ass of President Trump” as the prospect of a global trade war grows. Stephen Kinnock was put on the spot during an awkward grilling on Times Radio.

It came shortly before China refused to kiss dump's smelly ass and announced it was slapping 125% tariffs on US imports in retaliation for Donald Trump doing the same to them.

Meanwhile, Nigel Farage has condemned Donald Trump by comparing the chaos unleashed by his tariff policy to when Liz Truss crashed the UK economy.

The Reform UK leader said Trump had tried to do “too much too soon” by imposing huge import taxes on foreign goods entering the US.

Those are just fancy words with no real or practical meaning in real life. What is a livable wage? Who/What determines a livable wage. Is the livable wage in Manhattan NY same as in Rochester NY, Is a livable wage in SanFrancisco same as in Birmingham Alabama?

An employment is an agreement for exchange of services between an employer and an employee. And emplyment is not guaranteed, Its based on both parties continuing to meet the needs of the other.
Employers and employees are free to negotiate wages that match their skills and economics of the place they are living and working. That is the sensible thing

The only reason you have a job right now is because you are valuable to your employer(You are giving value to them) and your employer is meeting your needs (Until you see someone better).

A minimum wage in NY is a Kings wage in Mississippi

What should be the livable wages of say teachers? Is it same in California and Arkansas

Apply all these theories to you as an employer and say a gardener as an employee and see how much sense it makes

US consumers are feeling worse about the economy than at any time during the Great Recession

Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by cococandy(f):
Livable wage is not a fancy word though. It’s calculated based on average cost of living. Of course it differs from state to state and I know that’s what you mean. But the minimum in some red states has not changed to meet the times.

If it truly means nothing why do red states who have consistently paid lesser wages than blue states have higher rates of poverty? If they paid a livable wage on average even if it doesn’t measure up to what more expensive states pay, they would have less poverty.

And I’m speaking as someone who’s been in both red and blue states. They lie to you about how lower cost of living means you deserve less pay. That if you go to a more expensive blue state, you’ll be taxed to death. But at the end of the day, I have more money in my pocket in blue states compared to being a red state.

So livable wage definitely means something. And in 2025, it shouldn’t be $7.75.

Lmao, not possible. You only live in the time you find yourself. Humans fought for freedom and stopped imperialism during those times. Family was valued and we were emotionally more stable. Rights for women and many things. Today, the people are insane, they think they are dogs. Many are confused of their sexuality.

They fought in the 50s to be treated as humans, today they are fighting to be treated as animals.

Within the same state there are areas who vastly different cost of living. Within the same state e.g California, Is the cost of living in SanFran same as in Fresno? So what is the livable wage in that area? Even within the same metro area say Los Angeles, there are areas with a higher standard of living than 5 zip codes away. Beverly Hills might have 3 times the cost of living as Compton and Inglewood. So what is the livable wage for LA metro, California or the US

Which brings it to every individual location has to determine its living wage. Which is why if you have a job not paying you enough you leave it. And if you are not treating your workers well enough, they leave you. That is how you reach the equilibrium between employers and employees on terms of work

Rural areas generally have a higher level of poverty. So saying red states which are more rural have more poverty does not mean much

I have also lived in Blue and red states, and I have to say I vastly enjoy living in the red states more and it seems more Americans do too. Given the migration patterns from Blue states to Red states

That is why Blue states are losing population and losing electoral votes

Your assertion that the left demonizes the blue-collar working class is trying to undermine many progressive policies designed to uplift and support these workers, and Teamsters decision not to endorse a Democrat this time is context-specific and does not indicate a rejection of the left's historical commitment to labor rights.
