Most of my mates were using sagem my x6. We needed smartphones so as to enjoy free browsing tricks. Those were the days of opera cheats, the one for PC is yourfreedom software, people were browsing for free till like year 2019. Search nairaland for yourfreedom and see the results. What you think was luxury is actually social norm to some of us

I never had to use any of that cos i was at school in the Uk then and Internet was readily available and fast. But I hear you.

I remember I had a Nigerian teacher in college, I wanted to apply for an extension for my assignment due to stress, and she laughed at me! I was so shocked: then she said you don't have time for stress and what are you stressing about! I went over her head and got a 2 month extension.

I hate people who tell you to look at so and so they have it worse than you. Stress is relative. One person could lose 1 deal, 1 relationship, 1of their loved ones, and that causes them to commit suicide.

Another person could have their whole country wiped out (Palestinians) and still wake up grateful to be alive and keep it moving.

I know this, I came to the Uk 2000 so I went through when we never have even camera phones and using Nokia 3210 the 3 network brought it to the UK.I think the 3G service came to Nigeria early 2008 via Glo, I remember this as I came to Nigeria and just qualifies in what I do now.

I was shocked when you implied that people in the uk didn't have mobile phones to access the Internet! People were on YouTube, and downloading music from the Internet well before smartphones. My brothers were on MySpace. You just made the concept sound brand new when said 2007.

Nop its people mis understanding what I said, I said smart phones, so questions we should really look at, what makes a phone smart, is it not like saying what makes a TV smart? This is what the argument was all about.

Stress in the Uk is the stress people living in banana island go fru.Now Im sure you know banana Island, Now at this point I was not delving into work related stress as you can not measure that in this context talking about the kind of stress that comes to you when you did not ven do anything to deserve it ie No electricity, Insecurity, going to the ATM to collect money and your card gets sucked in ,Bank network down and you cannot use online banking, No network in your phone even though you have credit., School strikes for 5 months

Can you even Imagine as a civil servant in the west Month comes and you do not get paid, can you even imagine recording the stress you going to pass through?

Sorry! I Just jumped in half way through the thread because someone I'm following commented so I didn't even see the OP!

I don't think people look any different for being abroad. In todays world of filters, and AI generated/enhanced pictures you can't believe what you see.

A poor person abroad looks rough compared to a middle class person in Nigeria. If it ain't genetics then it's filter. I think op is a blanket statement. When people leave their country for some reason they package themselves when taking pictures. They do the most to decive people back home. I have seen it so much.
