Nigeria is the only country where sombody with his clear eyes will go for a 3MZ engine instead of 2GR and if you ask them their reasons they dont even know. They based their assumptions based on some fake informations feed to them by some quack mechanics.
When you tell people the truth they woun't believe but the moment you package lies and feed them boom they rush it like tom tom and thats why our politicians keep dealing with us.

3MZ is a 3.3L V6 engine, VVT-i timing which pushes out about 230Hp.
This engine uses timing belt which can cut anytime without notice.
It's also equipped with a 5-speed ( U151E ) gear which you people popularly call the 13-pin gear.
The fuel economy of the 3MZ is very poor when compared with the 2GR.
This engine/gear is commonly found in Camry, Lexus, Highlander, Sienna etc.

The 2GR is an advanced and modified version of 3MZ. It's equipped with a double 3.5L V6 engine with dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) and VVT-i timing and pushes out about 278Hp.
This engine uses timing chain instead of belt and the chain is more durable and hardly cut instead it slacks.
Its equipped with a 6-speed ( U660E ) gear which you people popularly call the 22-pin gear.
The fuel economy and general performance of this engine/gear over the 3MZ is much.
This 2GR srarted around late 2006 so thats why you see them in some late 06/07 Sienna and Rx330. Other vehicles that use them are other Lexus, Rav4, Highlander, Camry etc.

So my advice is, stop believing hear say, always seek information from a qualified professional and make your own research too.
The only reason Naija quack mechanics don't like the 2GR is there is no much space inside the engine compartment so when they want to remove or install some components like alternator, kick starter, pump,gasket and other things its not always as easy as the 3MZ that have more room.

My second advice is, as far as you people still allow the kazeems, dropouts, quacks and people who didt even finish primary school rule the Automobile maintenance industry those are the kind of things you see,so dont complain.
Everyone wants his children to study Medicine, Law, Accounting etc .......no problem, when they finish Mr Quack and Kazeem is waiting for them to bypass all the sensors on that their 2025 model cars, then they will learn the hard way.

4years ago,I used to leave everything to mechanic,rewire,etc,not till I got red card from my client and no more funds. I was now fully equipped with info,obd scanner and of cos sense. I lqst went to mechanic last year September and na bushings.if its plugs,coils,oil,etc...I can do it myself
