I am just giving you education why modern laptops don't use or need Cmos battery. If you have it in a system from 2020 or even before 2020, you are most likely look at a watch battery

Bios was stored in Ram/Rom memory which is why you need a Cmos battery. They moved to flash memory. Today, bios is still used alongside EUFI.

So if you don't need the Cmos battery to retain current in the Cmos RAM since they store the settings in flash memory, what do you need the battery for?

My laptops don't have Cmos battery. My surface and HP. The macs don't have it.

Cmos battery usage does not have anything to do with the Generation of processor you are running. It is a motherboard design choice. Some manufacturers keep it there as a easy way to reset bios. Some keep it to keep pc time correct. But you don't need it. Your pc will work fine without the battery
