the guy is an architect and he was amending some drawings. he put the files on a flash. so i sort the files by date. they were supposed to be the most recent files . because they were dated 5 days past, they did not show. the next day i met with him and he showed me the files. i saw the old date and i got very very angry because i thought he had been slacking and was trying to present last weeks work as just completed.

while updating the pc, i saw the time error and figured it was his system cmos battery and i replaced it.

if you have a gaming laptop with stuff like xmp and overclocking features you enable in the bios, a bad cmos battery will mean bios resets every time you start the device.

Otherwise you can set your PC to sync with a time server. A local time server that syncs with publicly available NTP servers syncs all your network devices.
On gateway routers depending on complexity , you can force every external time sync request to be served by the router.

I get you mean. A computer uses time in every operation. Frequency is a function of time. Processors are defined by their clocking speed. Don't remember much but there are terms like Master Clock , RTS, CTS etc in electronics.
Correct time has nothing to do with a motherboard operation. The MB has its own clocking mechanism, eg when copying a file to drive , it will show you the time remaining. That's the MB clock system. The correct date and time does not prevent the MB from doing its thing.
Display correct day and time are of course essential but not critical . A computer will still work

Either you studied through the window or you have some scant knowledge , certificate level computer knowledge. It's taken you a long time to make your point and you was still wrong somehow.
