Offenders of hateful comments should be banned and comments deleted..

The mods should stop pushing nonsense to the front page...I mean, stop pushing NONSENSE to front page! angry undecided

For attacking me

You're in trouble on this site

Answer the question seun asked and keep shut.
Stop reading people's complaints/comments and attacking them like it was referred to you.

You are a man not a woman or are u that jobless?

Seun himself is reading every comment and haven't said a word.

Hello Guys,

I'm throwing this question to you because it's very important. Every time I ask, "how is Nairaland?" I'm told that it is fine. If I ask what are the challenges I'm told there are none.

So I need to talk to you guys directly about what you think is going on and what you want us to do. I have not had the confidence to make major changes on Nairaland. I have a little confidence now because of AI.

What are your complaints, your challenges, your issues. What are the things that can drive people away and need to be nipped?

Speak your mind, but don't be rude. Thanks.
dey tell u say it is fine and u believe?

Thank you for your honest request. To be very sincere, the name NAIRALAND will expire after Jaga Jagaban in office. Begin to plan for a new name. I have some suggestions but that will be for another day.

Personally, I feel a portrait of His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) should be included on the front page.

Justification for such is that, never a time in history has the country had a leader who supports and welcomes social media criticism. Also, being same time the best we had since independence, it will be a great honor to have his portrait on the front page.

*Modernise the UI.
*Share Ads revenue with owners of posts that get a certain threshold of views. (Adverts displayed on their thread) even if it's a very tiny fraction of the proceeds. You'll see how Nairaland will grow. Everybody will post educative and useful content.

Seun,

I’m glad you threw this out to Nairalanders. The best way to see the world is through the eyes of others.

1. Look for analysis of this forum by tech gurus and business savvy folks. Tech gurus will update and modernize your website and others will give you better ideas on how to make money off it. See yourself as an investor first and a nice guy second. Imagine if this forum is owned by a foreign entrepreneur.

2. Look into what some of your moderators are doing. I don’t think the actions and decisions of some of them are helpful to the growth and stability of this amazing website.

3. Organize charitable events. Invite notable leaders and the media who will spend weeks promoting you and Nairaland.

This platform is amazing and easy to use. Thanks and goodluck!

Introduce monthly subscription so as to separate serious minded people like me from the noise makers like mannabbqgrils, ajepako and co. Also get rid of all your moderators. Most of them are feeling like gods. Finally, do something about Christians taking oaths before commenting or posting on the Muslim forum. Why are the Muslims not being asked to do same on the Christians forum? I don't think this is fare.
People don't subscribe to a website they don't benefit from. What's the benefit of being here?

THE BIGGEST FAILURE OF NAIRALAND IS THE MESSAGING SYSTEM....How can a social media platform in 2025 have such an archaic messaging system? No private chat rather email communication that does not lead back to the platform.....YIKES!

1. Block button
2. Dislike button
3. Night mode
4. Ban Tribalists & Religious bigots, your Mods have been doing a terrible terrible job concerning this.
5. Option for online realtime Chats/meeting/streams.

This is 2025 but the site is still stuck in 2010.

1- Some of your mods are banning without telling you the rules broken or just because you spoke against their opinion
2- Some mods are good at pushing false news to front page just because they don't like certain politicians, even after pressing rules 8 the news will not be taking down
3- some monikers don't have anything to do here , rather than trolling and calling a nairalander with different names and your mods are not doing anything about it

Nairaland is cool to be honest…
Somethings don’t need too much modification as they are already an identity…
But you need to figure out a way to capture the upcoming generation otherwise, in the next few decades, Nairaland will die a natural death due to members becoming old

Hi Seun, thanks for this.
Here are a few things I think will make a difference to the platform and some ideas I could lay out to make more money from here to make it sustainable and pay more mods.

1. Down vote and no up vote ( take few bad eggs down or if they receive a certain number of down votes they'll be suspended from that week to post

2. I don't know if it's bbpress nairalnis running on but if it isn't and it's something you can do I'd like we have a dedicated place for news, separate from the forum. ( most or what we get in front page is not news) not like it should be cause it's just a forum to discuss topica but it could be more.

3. Transactions to the tune of 30 million or more go on here weekly and it could be tapped with some few ideas I have ( I could do a proposal for that if you interested)

4. We should have a subscription service of atleast 500 a month or 5k a year to make posts in certain topics or reply on front page and trending topics. Account creation should cost 1k on its own ( this will help reduce multiple accounts and trolls )

5.Nairaland is too big to remain this way for years.
There's a lot that can be done to make this Nigerias own largest social media/ website.
Various offshoots can come off Nairaland with the trust and recognition it already has.

6. Please remove that notice on Muslim threads.
This is a forum, where everything is discussed.
If we're to let them keep theirs it will be fair if other threads have their own governing rules from the mods.

7. Be more visible and build a physical community around Nairaland with meetups

8. Obviously we need an app, I think sometime in 2014 I was using the blackberry app of Nairaland. If the challenge is migrating user data I belive we have more than capable hands to help with this or for you to consult with. I bet it'll be a good project they will all love to be part of

9. Corpers, Nairaland can cater to some coper needs with few ideas I have. ( Nairaland will not longer just be a forum it'll be more)

10. ( this one here I'll keep to myself first as I'm already working on it for myself

11......
12........

If you are interested in those ideas that could make more money for this platform I'll be glad to talk about it.

Seun this is True, the current generation of people on Nairaland are not just youngsters like before.
A time may come where this gen will go and the next won't even use this website

The benefit of being here is why you registered on the platform.

I've been here since 2012 as guest, found my benefits and been a regular since 2015

1. The ‘unlike’ button for opinions we don’t agree with.
2. The ‘block’ button for users one is not comfortable with
3. On the Islam threads, non-Muslims are not permitted to make a comment without declaring their loyalty, but it’s not the same on Christianity threads. I think that’s partiality!
4. Improve the nairaland interface. It’s been the same interface for so many years. Improve your colors, fonts, etc.
5. Add a messaging section where one can chat with fellow users directly without sending an email.
6. Add a product marketing section/place where one can buy & sell their products.
7. Reporting section is not functioning well.
8. Hate speech against the female gender by males is too much on this forum. Please curb it by deleting comments & posts against women.
9. Same as tribalism.
Seun, please improve your forum, it’s not fine like your admins are reporting and these are a few of the challenges that your forum is facing.

It’s very good that you seek the opinion of the users. We are the ones to tell you the truth.
