Both meals have different cooking times. Rice gets cooked faster than stew. Except he enjoys roasted rice. Still going to expend same quantity of gas.

This is very good....when both foods cook at the same temperature .... at the same stages and finish at the same time. Let's say I'm cooking rice ... and a stew. The rice needs high fire for the first 20 minutes ... does the stew require the same? Most wouldn't... then what? Next day ...some rice need to warm up but stew need to be made ... how will that work? This kind pot is fine to deep fry like chicken in one half and ehmmm ... vulture in the other.

But kindly consider that the flavor of the intended meal aside from the ingredients, will also come from the heat-the steaming of the said meal. That pot cannot stop heat from the rice and stew overlapping each other.

The desire of a well flavored stew will have issues it will have a semi rice flavor instead of the usually intended beef, chicken etc flavors.

You dont cook obviously. Na rice go first done before stew unless you season your meat first before cooking

Meat doesn't define every stew. If there's no meat, stew gets done more quickly.

.......and what happened when the soup is done and the rice is only half cooked? 😞

He can make the soup pot to be detachable so as to be able to hooked to the main pot at will. This is a local innovations that we need in this country.

You'd have to sufficiently test it to know if it is either a hit or a miss. But overall,the idea seems reasonable.

➜Crazy contraption but to those stating different meals cook at different rates as a problem have either never worked in a kitchen or multi-tasked. The simple logic is that you start with whatever takes longer to end up somewhere about the same point.
However the laws of thermodynamics will ensure that the 'partitioned pot' breaks down after a while.

Plenty stages dey for cooking soup or stew. Boiling meat, frying meat, frying sauce, adding the meat and stock, seasoning......all the while rice dey one side dey release steam.

Even worse, the rice cannot be completely removed! ( ). The little remaining will stay there and be burning.

@WriterX, Great comment—which I think that man or anyone else that is competent enough to improve on the design would find most useful/helpful.

On the idea of not making the separator/compartment permanent, the functionality issues (that you already acknowledged) and reliability of the barrier while cooking/heating (even if it was technically functional when produced) should be seriously considered, if a/the designer prefers to adopt the idea.

Your other idea to think of it as a sort of stove-top “oven” or “pot holder” is however very impressive and I wanted to add that I believe whoever is competent enough to make the design would likely be able to make pots with semicircular base/bottom to fit into one or both of the compartments such that at least a compartment never gets used for direct cooking (i.e. pot+oven,oven+oven etc.) and there will only ever be a need to wash the semicircular-bottomed pots. I saw that other comments by @Cmeo and @Bombolistic already concur with this idea before this comment and its such a relief that there are still Nigerians thay try to think of potentially useful/helpful solutions (even when not really seeking to benefit from it as in this case).

As the pot design currently is, something I'll gladly use it for is boiling of eggs while cooking rice on the other side, moin moin or any other non-sticky kind of application similar to boiling of water (which has been previously suggested by several comments) to make the cleaning/maintenance similar to that of a regular pot. Thanks.

Here is an upgrade of the design


Ensure the cooking pot is non stick like really good non stick, the compartment that separates it can't be a permanent one thats a major deal breaker so that once one side especially the stew is done, one can turn over the rice or vice versa. Again there will be functionality issues but it will work.

Another thing is the divider should be adjustable to reduce and expand cooking space.

In all it is okay. My idea would be he made a sort of oven compartment port like a pot holder that can hold two pots whilst using the same burner
