Killings: Gov Mutfwang Bans Night Grazing In Plateau, Restricts Motorcycles by TimeManager(op): 6:16pm On Apr 16, 2025
Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has announced a ban on night grazing and restricted the use of motorcycles across the state following incessant attacks.

In a state broadcast on Wednesday, Mutfwang described the attacks as “coordinated acts of terror” aimed at displacing residents and undermining their right to exist peacefully on their ancestral lands.

The governor also prohibited the transportation of cattle by vehicles after 7pm.

He said the directives take immediate effect, with the restriction on motorcycle use in place from 7pm to 6am across the state until further notice.

“The tragic echoes of Dogo Na Hawa, Riyom, Barkin-Ladi, Mangu, and the Christmas Eve massacres in Bokkos remain vivid. The cycle continues, but it must not endure. Enough Is Enough,” the governor said.

“As your governor, I stand resolved — Plateau shall not be overrun by fear, nor shall we accept this culture of bloodshed as the new normal.

“My administration is intensifying efforts to protect our people and enforce the rule of law across all local governments.

“I hereby announce the following measures, effective Wednesday, April 16: Night grazing of cattle is strictly prohibited; transportation of cattle by vehicle is banned after 7pm.

“The use of motorcycles is restricted from 7pm to 6am across the state until further notice.”

My Dear People of Plateau, I speak to you not just as your Governor, but as your brother one who deeply feels the pain and sorrow that has again darkened our land.

In the late hours of Sunday, April 13th, the peace of Zikwe Village in Bassa LGA was shattered by a brutal attack…

Muftwang said communities must be actively involved in defending themselves within the confines of the law.

At least 50 people were reportedly killed after gunmen invaded Kimakpa village, Miango district, in Bassa LGA of the state on April 14.

The attack came barely two weeks after gunmen killed many residents in five communities in Bokkos and Mangu LGAs.

Authorities have been scrambling to contain the attacks in a state where ethnic tensions have long simmered.

The President said he has offered some solutions to the Governor several times but he didn't implement them. Unfortunately, it takes a very sad series of incident for him to implement it. As Governor of a state, you have the power to ban open grazing and implement such a ban through state laws and also enforce it through states law enforcement outfits. You don't have to be politically correct and pander to some people at the detriment of the lives of your citizens.
It is quite unfortunate that the man who confessed he paid off the killers during his time as Governor, is rather more concerned about coalition than talking to his kinsmen to sheath their swords and return to wherever they came from.

They should go after the murderers , apprehend and prosecute them, any one found guilty should be hanged immidiately- that should be the best option to stop these criminal land-grabbers, masquerading as herdsmen.
These fulani-herdsmen have been killing Nigerians for free, without any consequences for their heinous acts, that is why they refused to stop their madness .

The culprit are mainly herdsmen who has zero economic values..
They reside in forest and won't pay rent or tax yet destroy crops kill villagers.

Dear govs and legislators in Nigeria.

Cattle is reared solely for production of beef and dairy.

When will you people be bold enough to make laws and tell the Fulani the truth that in other parts of the world, cattle is no longer bred by herdsmen roaming around a country's bushes and roads to produce dairy and beef?
When will you politicians in Nigeria be bold enough to tell the truth that beef and dairy are now produced more profitably through rearing cattle in enclosed farms?
Or don't you people know that grabbing and occupying other people's lands are the reasons why Fulani has refused to embrace the modern method of rearing cattle in enclosed farms?

As in Plateau State has a governor with immunity and security vote in billions, has security budget pegged at N7.36bn, has deputy governor, house of assembly members representing the various local governments, has senators and house of rep members collecting salaries, and sore losers think it's solely Tinubu's job to deal with every fly and mosquito that bites in Plateau?
Do they really want to turn the whole of Nigeria into some states in the NEast and SEast where all they do is nothing but blame the FG for their self inflicted problems?

Excellent ideas.

Time for roaming with cows to stop. This is not 200 years ago, when population was still scanty enough
