Good afternoon guys, please I need some clarification on filing the tls appointment booking form. I had a Schengen visa in 2015. There is a question asking if you have ever been issued a Schengen visa which I answered yes to, then another question about whether my fingerprint has previously been taken which I also answered yes to, then the last part which requires me to input the visa number and the validity is where I am having a problem. I input the validity which is from October 2015 and I get the response that the validity cannot be below 59 months. What can I do in the circumstances please? |

Your last Schengen visa is over 5 years. Select "no", then proceed with the booking process. Print a coloured copy of your previous Schengen visa, take it along with your other supporting documents for your appointment. Ensure you inform the TLS rep that you've been issued a Schengen visa before and if you used the visa he will grade you as a Frequent Flyer. This enhances the possible approval of your application sirrotex: |

Hello guys. This isn't much of a visa question but I'm trying to get the French embassy in Abuja to verify a birth certificate for me and the people at the gate have directed to another person/people that is charging 300k/document. It seems like a scam, because the entire process looks dubious. Does anyone have experience with consulate verifying documents? |

Can I apply for France tourist visa if my employers only have SMEDAN Certificate? There's no CAC yet and the CEO "isn't planning on getting that" for reasons best known to him. |
| Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Jane111: 10:42am On Apr 22, 2025 |
SMEDAN doesn't confer legal status on entities, I am not sure there is anyone that wouldn't prefer CAC to SMEDAN let alone an embassy. If you must use SMEDAN, make sure there are other areas of your application that can compensate for any perceived relative weakness of the SMEDAN certificate. firebreather: |

Good day guys ! Please ooo , I'm helping someone apply for France visit visa and the initial travel date is 24th of April .. But today, she received an email to send a valid hotel reservation.... The initial hotel reservation I used for the application has been canceled. My question is , do I changed the hotel date/travel date or go ahead and book for the 24th again ? A quick response would be greatly appreciated. |
| Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by firebreather: 1:16pm On Apr 22, 2025 |
Rebook for 24th till the end of trip since supposedly, the embassy still has the travel date enclosed in the application, so that travel date is what should take precedence. Hence, send hotel reservation that aligns with that travel date. Chelseaboy101: |

Thank you! Which other areas would you envisage can be strengthened to complement the "weakness" of SMEDAN certificate. Jane111: |

Chelseaboy101:You had better pay for some days for that hotel. There is a reason why they asked. |

Dear All, I want to confirm if someone who has visited Turkey, Tanzania, Dubai and Saudi Arabia can be classified as frequent traveler for France visit visa? |

if you apply at italy embass you be classified as frequent traveler because Turkey is among OECD Family & Tourism SHORT STAY (Less than 90 days): You have previous visas from Schengen, UK, USA or other OECD countries and you wish to go to Italy for Tourism and will stay no longer than 90 days. |

A good place to start would be good travel history, financial proof, certifications or any kind of proficiency that largely suggest how vital and valuable you are as a person so that there wouldn't be any incentive for you to overstay your visa and become a second class citizen in their country etc......It is endless really so it all depends on each person's profile and sometimes the mood of the consular at the time of the evaluating your case (guess that is where prayer comes in lol)...........One thing to also keep in mind is this, I am not sure if this applies to France as a country but for instance, the US embassy by default posits that every non-immigrant applicant wants to elope, so the burden is always on each applicant to disprove this notion and convince the consular officer otherwise. If the French embassy has the same posture then you should look inwards, do a simulation and find a way to blow up the significant areas of your life in your cover letter. firebreather: |

Chelseaboy101:Just book another Hotel or the same hotel on hold. Cancel after she gets the visa. Simple. |

They said Valid' , which means a paid hotel voucher, they can confirm. They know what they are doing. Technically, they should not use dummy reservations but an actual purchased voucher Cashmadam: |

| Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Cashmadam: 11:04am On Apr 23, 2025 |
hunee:Valid means an existing booking. They simply check with your booking number to see if the booking still exists. You can google the meaning of valid booking: A "valid booking" means a reservation that is accepted and confirmed by the service provider and is still within its period of validity. It's an arrangement for a specific service, like a hotel room, flight, or event ticket, that is guaranteed to be available at the time requested It does not mean you are expected to pay for the booking. Please note that no sane Visa Officer will expect you to pay for accomodation and/or ticket when you are not sure you will get the visa. Which is why First world countries like UK and US will not even ask you for accomodation booking or ticket. The essense of ticket and accomodation booking is to show your itinerary - not for you to pay and lose your money if you don't get the visa. If he chooses to pay, then that's on him. In my entire life, I have never paid for any ticket or hotel to get any visa - and I have a number of them. |

Cashmadam:You are correct , I am also correct. No dispute. However, from experience when an embassy ask you to send a valid document for hotel, it is best to use a paid voucher to be on a safer side. Technically speaking, If i am in same situation , understanding fully the stakes , i will gladly pay for an hotel for some days to get my visa. Wisdom is key. Thank you |

Chelseaboy101:Simply book another hotel that allows free cancellation. Once the visa is approved you cancel the reservation and you'll get a full refund on the card used to make the booking. This way the booking is valid and can be confirmed at any point in time, such that if a call is put throught to the Hotel or Airbnb, they can confirm your name and booking details |
