Let the governor show his son’s hairstyles first! Nigeria is always living on a false narrative! The video is not only disgusting, it is constitutionally offensive and a direct affront to citizens rights in that state.

And these security agencies would use this as a means to harass and milk the people dry! Nigeria is a crime scene!!

Pure diversion we all know it has nothing to do with dreadlocks.

BY ANTHONY ADA ABRAHAM
One thing our politicians and their security enforcers fail to grasp is the absurdity of branding people with dreadlocks as criminals. How many terrorists, thieves, or even Boko Haram and Fulani militants have been arrested with dreadlocks? It’s baffling how grown men in power can genuinely believe that young men with dreads are the root of society’s problems.

Ironically, these same officials travel abroad and happily interact with people who wear dreadlocks, grinning like chickens. Take, for instance, the son of one of our FCT minister, he carries dreadlocks. Many children of politicians, business elites, and even security personnel wear them. Should they all be labeled threats to the state? Who even advises these leaders? What kind of reasoning is this?

And what about those born with natural dreadlocks ("dada"wink? Should their heads be chopped off simply because one man links their hair to insecurity?

We must seriously reconsider the people we elect to lead us. If a leader can boldly claim that young men with dreadlocks are the primary cause of insecurity, then 99 per cent of innocent Nigerians, including their own childre should prepare for jail. By that logic, those wearing beads (like the leader himself) shouldn’t be spared either, since they’re more likely to be bandits than those with dreads.

What we needed from him was a clear stance against illegal weapons, especially among herders and "Yan daba" thugs, not a ridiculous hairstyle-based profiling system.

In Nigeria, poverty is a death sentence.

Those close to this man should advise him immediately. His reckless statement has already given the police and other authorities a license to harass and extort innocent citizens in and around the state.

This overanalysis is irrelevant!

If intelligence reports strongly suggests that terrorists or insurgents within a locality wear dreadlocks as their signature hairstyle then I see nothing wrong if government decides to go after them.

In China and come Asian countries people who are members of criminal gangs usually have triads tattoo.

This is one of the reasons why members of the Chinese national football team are banned from having tattoos.

If you're not a gang member why then would you have a triads tattoo on your body; in the same vein why would you have dreadlocks if you live in an area where terrorists wear dreadlocks as a key identification trait?!
Thank God reasonable and rational human beings still remain in this forum.

During COVID 19 churches and mosques and club house closed down, it's as a result of security situation then.

The security situation would determine what authorities would enforce in certain part of the country or state, but for the professors on nairaland, they must always think like a perfect man, yet nothing to show for their extra-genius in critical thinking.

Every rational human being knows the correlation between Crime and unemployment except Nigerian politicians and their supporters!

How a group of educated people can accept this as sensible is surprising!

We would soon see the fall out of all those farmers chased from their farms,

It's all the fear of Fulani, they would rather punish their children than face the culprits, they know herders don sport dreadlocks, if they did they would NEVER pass that law

Reminds me of Sunday Jackson that killed a herder in self defense and was still sentenced to death,
Life in the Slave Coast is weird!

I can only see ranting upon ranting, for the decision the state govt took, you haven't said a single point to proof, it's irrational.

This man has been Gov for two years now and never, took decision to harass anyone, tribe or religion,......now that he took this decision, a rational human beings, would think twice, ........ there is more to it than what he is seeing on the surface, since you arent privileged to see the security report.

But trust Naija teenagers, you guys must rant and attack every policy just to proof a baseless point.

You guys always critical of female for not be able to contribute outside relationship posts, but they are still better than many of you that always argue off point, irrationally and illogically.

I can't even blame the governor...!

These people have no single leadership IQ.

That's why the Holy Bible warned against the Blind leading the blind.

From LGA to Aso Rock... This is exactly why this nation is retrogressing at such an alarming rate.

You have incompetent, clueless and corrupt people doing what they have no business doing: Leadership.

How many bandits carry dreads? So why is dreads associated with criminality?

Anyways, one thing I have noticed with the Northerners is that any human right they find hard to subdue through religion, they resort to brutal force and weird agitations. Just as we saw their Sultan of Sokoto calling social media a terrorist organisation. Lol.
Meanwhile the ones killing people from Sokoto to Zamfara are simply bandits and cow rustlers. smiley

Lol the dictator has spoken. Ask yourself why your governor is allowed to arbitrarily make laws without state assembly.

I’m recommending 6 months rehabilitation for that governor at a good psychological center.

This will enable him think more about how to reduce poverty and achieve 24-hour electricity.

Nairaland has reverted to 2005 in quality. I am impressed. The opinions I’ve read today on the front page have been intellectual. Did Seun start paying writers? Why wasn’t the cleanse activated years ago? Well, better late than never. Lessons will be learned either way.

The thing I will never understand about African men in general — I hardly see women discriminate based on hairstyles — is they don’t know how their bias was formed. White men cut our hair out of envy. They forced short hair to become the norm as a way to make us more homogeneous thus easier to control. This continued for decades until our people saw it as normal. When the whites left (sixty-five years ago), it was too late to change. Enough generations had imbibed the view that short hair was the best grooming practice. It was hard to remove. Any other hair length was a sign of sloth and ill-character.

The terrorists and criminals I’ve seen in police reports sport Afros (from hiding out of public view), low cuts or shave their hair bald. What it means is hair doesn’t define the individual, personality does. A person can have dreadlocks, a skin cut, braids or what-have-you — if he decides to become a doctor, he will excel in the required field.

You can now see why Nigeria is the way it is, no reasonable leadership, once they get to the position of authority, they begin to reason like cow.

Nigeria has the worse set of leaders compared to other countries. One of the criteria to be an elected official in Nigeria is to be a clown. Country filled with retrogressive leaders
I agree with you! But Nigeria doesn't have the worst set of leaders. How many countries have you lived? Go to all those South American countries, go to places like Venezuela, Guatemala, Honduras etc you will be glad that you are a Nigerian! You people should stop assuming that your country is the worst.
