Gossiping in public is not my problem... I and my wife are communicating very well. Its not a most to tie your umbilical cord to your tribe and dialect. I tend to do away with such primordial sentiment. My parents ,friends or anybody can't decide for me

That is not an excuse, the mother of the boy too can come out and say "my experience with some igbo persons was bad and that's why I don't want my son to marry igbo" There is no excuse for bad behaviour from the mother of the boy and the girl. But don't you think your children not knowing how to speak their dialect, will affect them! How do they discuss secret messages in public! I think this is one reason why parents tend to marry from one tribe!

Imagine missing out on a man or woman that can can give you peace and raise proper/balanced children with you because one wants to have safe language to discuss secret messages in public. I am not attacking you, I am just trying to draw up that comparison to point out what I think is important in marriage and building a home

My dialect or mother tongue are not my issues... I don't put much interest on it. My obligation or responsibility is train them and impact enough moral in them all. I don't travel home that much

Normally, i just see it as the norm here in Nigeria. You and your wife being one tribe will foster unity faster in marriage, plus having one vioce, safeguarding the family interest with one native tongue!
That is how i just see it!
