Islamically it is wrong for a woman to drop her surname name, her father’s name is the indication of her lineage, you can not just change lineage it’s not even scientifically possible, it is only obtained by blood.

This is a western tradition that sadly, most Christians and modern Muslims have adopted.

When I got married, my wife wanted to go change her name officially. I immediately schooled her on it.

But then dropping her maiden surname is logical considering she's now committing to starting a new family with her husband.

Never thought of this way, but it just didn't seem right. No offence to people who are okay with it.

Reverting is a lot of paperwork. She probably changed ID cards and bank account names. Your earlier submission is the best. No need starting it.

Oga, earlier this year Nigeria Immigration trended for a similar case and they came out to deny enforcing such on women and quoted their laws. I wouldn't know why you men keep quoting them wrong. But as someone who has been there and done that, all you need is a marriage certificate. Even unmarried partners get passports for their kids. How then do you think change of name is compulsory to get this done? Abi Davido/Tuface and their numerous babymamas did change of name?

It is not compulsory. You would only fly with more documents, but it is not compulsory.

That is not explaination, it is documentation. Let's not pretend like we don't know what it means to "explain tire". It changes nothing much really and you just get used to it at some point. Men are the ones always triggered by this topic.

True. I wanted my wife to retain her original surname but NYSC forced her to change to my name for her to redeploy her service posting because of marriage. I reluctantly accepted.

Its neither biblical,Quranic nor African.

Why should a woman change her father name?
Is the husband or husband father her father?
