I needed this motivation. Honestly, seeing this has fueled me tonight. I will resume classes for B1 next month.

I have another question. When you said "start the recognition process for the city you wanna go to online", how do I go about this? I am new to this application, I have not yet completed my application because of the block account, although I am almost rounding off the figure.

Can you tell me how to go about choosing the city?

I really appreciate your efforts and swift responses.
Since you have B.Eng, you can still get the opportunity card without doing the recognition from Nigeria. As long as your university is rated H+ on Anabin.

As I said, the electrical field is a regulated profession in Germany, and each state have their way of doing it. So using the link below, you can search your city then follow the steps. The idea is to beat time by started it now so you'll just finish up when you enter Germany in order to start working asap when you land a full time role.

Your residence permit will be tied to your city where you're going. So just choose any major city you wanna reside in like Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Ausburg etc. then follow the process.

Please go and apply to join the waiting list. The queue is getting long. For the field of block account, you can input your something there before you get it fully since it will take at least 3 to 6 months before it's your time

@Hannania, well done and many thanks for support all the while. I have gone through the entire thread alongside the questions and responses. Here's my case, I have a Bachelors degree in Accounting but I moved along the Consulting and Learning & Development career path due to passion with over 8 years of relevant work experience on my current career path. Irrespective, I'm still very much conversant with the accounting and finance field due to interest and transferable skills. If I have to pursue this opportunity, which of the fields would you suggest I consider considering the perks and multiplicity of opportunities in both fields. In addition, I recently worked with a German INGO in Nigeria with all documentation to my work history and contracts. Would this give me a better chance with the German embassy? Thanks for your response.
The opportunity card does not mind if you don't have experience, as long as your University is H+ and your degree is recognised on Anabin.

The questions you're asking should be a concern regarding looking for a job. The accounting field is finance, which is German heavy. So start learning German asap. You need B2/C1 proficiency if you wanna easily crack the financial sector in Germany.

Of course there are international jobs, but the competition is fierce

For your visa, they won't even ask for your CV and motivational letter

Please I've been having this dilemma also about how easy it would be finding a suitable job within the stipulated one year without being proficient in German.
I work in the food manufacturing industry where I have experience in quality control, R&grin and product development. I studied Food Science and Technology.

What do you think? Considering the investment, is it worth a shot? I don't want to be booted out after 1year for failure to secure a job after everything.

Of course I'll try my best to learn the language if I get there but it may take a while to be proficient.
The idea of learning the language when you get their is very risky. Check job boards like Xing, Stepstone, monster.de, indeed.de and linkedin to see jobs in your field and what percentage does not require German.

With the current economy, German is a necessity. Though the opportunity card can be extended for 2 more years, and your can work part-time without touching your block account.

So do your research regarding opportunities in your domain

For those of us who have applied already, what can we start doing to boost our chances, apart from learning the language?

Hello house,

Has anyone else been able to get attestation done online from the NPC site, I clicked on the privacy agreement but I wasn't able to agree to the terms because the column is not working which is a crucial step to move forward. I have also tried other browsers, still the same.

Will appreciate any help as to how to go by it

@Hannania please what do you suggest I put in place of the blocked account column in the application as my funds are not comlete yet. And I want to stand in line since you said it might be more than 6months waiting time to get reviewed soon.
And pls advice on the max time I have to upload the blocked account; is it the 6months waiting to be reviewed or less?

You can open your block account and snap the page and upload. Please don't block yet until you've been called to send for preliminary review. You can block your account from 24hrs to 5 days depending on the provider

Perfecting the language. That's the best return of investment

Hi, Hannania. Thanks for your time. I have a question. For example, if one applies today, and wait time is exactly 6 months from now, when, roughly, should one expect to be called to send for preliminary review? Is it like a month or two after application was submitted, or towards the end of the 6 months wait time?

The 2 to 6 months notice on the portal is the timeline they issue before you send for preliminary review. They review within a week, then you book an appointment.

For the opportunity card, there is always an appointment date every week. So the moment your application has been reviewed, you can book an appointment asap

Firstly, there is a particular section you're missing. Carefully check and answer all fields that have asterisks

Secondly, the videx form is compulsory for everyone, no matter where you are applying from. See to it that your friend is on the right link and he's doing everything correctly.

Below is the application page for someone applying from the Catone province in China. The digital board for the opportunity card is the same all around the world.

Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by dawnzy: 1:44am On Apr 26, 2025
Yea.... Thanks for your response. I tried doing it with phone I was able to see all the missing asterick boxes. I also noticed the interpretation is different in phone to when I use laptop to translate to English.

@Hannania... Please I have some questions.
1. When I filled my form, I didn't see this score point.... I answered all questions and my degree was there in the regulted scheme. At the end it showed 6+ and then I proceeded to videx. Am I on track??
2. My friend point is 4 and does not meet the requirement, but when he tried registering form it gave him 6+. So I'm confused. It's either m not getting it right. Pls enlighten me.

Where you answered the questions happens to be the score counter .

The score counter is very important. Make sure you answer it correctly. That's because your response will determine the type of documents that will appear in your document upload section. So cross check and make sure you're doing the right thing

Hi @Hannania my brother wants to help me with a declaration of commitment , but the earliest date he could get appointment in his city is first week of June, the only thing left for me to upload is just that, would it make sense to upload something in that slot since it would still take 3 to 6 months to get to my turn and join the queue. Then update it when he sends it. If yes, what could I upload there ? Also would I be able to update it once I’m on the queue ?

Upload the appointment email notice your got. Yes, you can update everything before sending for preliminary review.

Ask your brother to send an email to that foreigners office and request for an earlier date. He should tell them it's for Chancenkarte and not study, and there's a deadline.

That website has nothing to do with the German government. It's a private company. Search for the new digital portal

Thanks Hannania, my certificate has been confirmed on Anabin.

You mentioned booking appointment so as to beat the time, I want to know if I can do this without blocking any money or I should just block a some amount of money then complete it when I have all.

Again, which company is more reliable in blocking account.

I will also need the site to get starting. Thanks for your swift responses as usual!

You don't book an appointment yet without. Getting reviewed. Upload all documents and the one you don't have , you can upload something there before they ask you to send for preliminary review.

You don't need to block anything now. Do so when they ask you to send your application. Coracle or Expatrio is best for block account

Search the page for the digital portal. I've posted it severel times

Good evening, Hannania

I have successfully registered and I'm on the waiting list.

You know you stated that on the block account part, I should upload any document. I did so but my question is, during the preliminary stage, will I be allowed to edit and modify the documents uploaded? Because I can't modify them now.

Secondly, what's the next step since I'm on the waiting list? What would you advise me to do?
