That's why we the "innocent" Nigerians need to speak up hard against those giving us bad reputation abroad and at home, drug traffickers, yahoo yahoo, human traffickers etc because e no concern me no dey oo...ko komi ko komi ori e lo ma pari si last last. Don't say because he is my tribe man I will not condemn his bad behaviour and then cry when someone categorised all your tribe people as the same kind of people.

This is sad and frankly, I feel your pain. Be that as it may, the people who are suppose to fight for you, to redeem the reputation of our country, are busy stealing and looting and plundering our collective wealth, to even give a damn about what happens to any other Nigerian, who isn't their direct family member.

So bro, take it as it is. It's a hard pill to swallow. It's the same here, you see our own brothers selling their birth right to foreigners, all in the bid of getting small money.

You'll see a white man or even woman, screaming at the top of their voice at our police, and you'll see the police cower. But, if it's you screaming at the police, you and I know what will happen.

Misplaced priorities is what is really killing us. I don't really blame us though, we lost our sense of self worth, a long time ago. All we care about is money and all it brings, nothing more, nothing less.

Even the way citizens behave to makes us less respected. Not just our leaders .

Imagine if you have better behave citizens than leaders...

There is something you're not telling us.

I have been to at least 6 African countries including South Africa, Ghana, Liberia, The Gambia, Sierra Leone and Kenya and at no time was I treated with disdain by their immigration officers!
There is definitely something he is not telling us.

Nigerias government should learn how to play dirty international politics sometimes. These smaller countries can be influenced to treat Nigerians much better..
Nigeria might be a mess at the moment, but when smaller countries like Cape Verde and Benin republic start to toss Nigerians up and down, it means the government of Nigeria is aloof and unaware of how to manage her global influence and reach.

They see us all as criminals first and we can't blame them.

A country were even teenagers can't enjoy innocent relationships anymore, a 16yr old girl is looking for a man to sleep with and take care of her while a 16yr old boy is looking for means to do fraud so he can buy 10m Benz so he can sleep around and smoke/drink all day.

The adults are completely nothing to write home about....everyone is looking for who to play a fast one.

Money Money Money.......no morals and conscience.
That is not the reason they treat Nigerians that way
Even in that country there are fraudster
They are many there.
The truth is that they are racist and they also know that your govt will not come for you.
My dear they will never treat an American like that even if he was caught as a criminal

So is the leader that will stop you people from committing crime everywhere you go??

Dey play and don't own your shirts.
Russian fraudsters perpetuate more internet frauds that are larger, more coordinated and tech-heavy compared to Nigeria.
The financial losses from Russian-based cybercrime are often in the billions of dollars annually.
Why are Russian Citizens not treated like common criminals in small African countries? If not for charlatans occupying leadership positions in this country

Many Nigerians have gone to this evil country and they were treated the same way but they never informed other Nigerians that country is not safe for them.
Once again thank you

Not true.

Nigeria has been unfortunate with Presidents....and when Nigeria had two good Presidents; Yaradua and Goodluck, una allowed APC devils to deceive una with nepotism.

If I become Nigeria's President, I swear with my life....I rather die or resign than allow things to become so messed up as it is now.

God forbid I become President and intentionally sideline, ignore and neglect any Nigerian region, ethnicity, or section.

I will forgive everybody that wronged me before I became President and carry every Nigerian region along for the good of myself and the entire nation.

I will carefully select and assemble highly competent and determined Nigerians from all the 36 states based on pure merit to help me build a new Nigeria.

If on my list which I will compile using social media and media sampling that I will make open to all Nigerians to nominate best candidate for various portfolios, and a Hausa person tops the rating for any position, God forbid I appoint an Igbo person to occupy such position. I will even be ashamed of myself as President if all key positions are occupied by Igbos. It can never happen under my watch, instead I resign. Nepotism has been what breeds division, corruption, stealing and sabotage in Nigerian government.

Nigeria have never had good President since 1966, yes I said it and that is the main issue destroying Nigeria further
Obasanjo is by far the best president in Nigeria's history.........do not even mention Jonathan and yaradua abeg! you must be a teenager!

We don’t have a leadership problem but a cultural problem. The people choose their leaders whether they are deceived or not. Passing the bulk to the leadership is just scratching the surface. We can keep on blaming the leaders while things will get worse because we keep on electing bad leadership.

How would they have respect for Nigerians? It's sad though to go through that even in African countries. But what do you expect your president and previous presidents went for medical checkup in France, Germany and UK, how embarrassing that is, very disgusting. Have you seen a South African president going for treatment in Overseas? Our previous and present president no get shame. Shame no dey their dictionary.

The was you are treated is a reflection of how our leaders treat us.

You were not allowed to speak there, how many people who tried to speak here have been imprisoned?

The way you were denied your rights here, how many persons were denied one of the simplest rights-the right to vote and be voted for in the last elections?

The look at the way our leaders treat us and extend same to us.
But thank God am different, thank God for contact.
The reason Nigerians are treated this way is because of the actions of some Nigerians outside Nigeria.

A popular adage says that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. These same arguments have been made more than a million times on this site. They were made by my great grand parents when they were alive, and also made by my grandparents and my parents when I was growing up, but the state of our affairs is still dire. Do we really think that complaining over and over will necessarily change anything? The culture would have to fundamentally change and each of us will also have change our ways but I doubt it will happen in my lifetime.

Nigerians are some of the most despised people on earth.

That's the truth, and it is not entirely without justification.

That said, I don't know where I kept my British passport, and I havent bothered to check in years. Last time I was in London, I arrived on a Friday and left on Monday. I couldn't wait to be back in this our 'terrible' Nigeria. I don't even hate the UK. I just have zero interest in living in a foreign country.

I am so much content being at 'home'. Not that Nigeria is great. Infact, it is terrible is certain respects. But strangely, being in Nigeria gives me a mental satisfaction that no other country on earth gives me.

I can't truly explain the feeling.
Even if you can't explain the feeling, I feel you.

Pls ehh, 1st consider our population size, look at the country well. It's the black capital and I will want us to believe we are very very more than 240million. Weren't u like even cape Verde? We are very very plenty and so our bad guys population only can be the size of Ghana or simply put 2 small countries put together. On the the identity of the nation, I don't think I will give up hope on Nigerias future. All I know about my country regarding the pendulum effect is if she will be Bad, it's the badness never seen and if Nigeria decides to go Good no country I repeat, no country will compete and that include USA. For now Pele

Five able-bodied men landing at the same time in a country that's had history of Nigerian "bad boys" messing with them surely calls for Cape Verdean immigration officials to be concerned.

The mistake I see is them all going at the same time. And I wonder why they didn't do a thorough background research on Cape Verde before planning a visit there.

There is more to this story.

If I have to guess, one or more of the party was carrying recreational drugs of a small quantity (if it was more, they would have gone to court). They were then challenged and one or more of the party responded rudely, at that point the Cape Verdean airport officials had had enough.

Cape Verde needs tourists because that's what their economy is based on. I have a relative who is in the travel industry and she features that country a lot in her WhatsApp status as a tourist destination.

There is much more to this story that has been left out.
Tradepunter2:
Nonsense write up.... I have a EU passport but based most of the time in Nigeria..... Just having that passport alone gives me great satisfaction tht I can leave anytime to cool off my nerves.... I run a business in Nigeria and it's satisfying to make and spend here.... There's nothing mentally satisfying seeing your people suffer... Majority can't afford hospital bills nor good clean environment.... And this is me that reside in a gated estate around ikate area ... I drive out and am just angry cuz the suffering is man made ... So excuse with the bs of having mental satisfaction

That's why I always say that both people who support stupid leadership and those who don't support it will pay a heavy price for it. Even the man who leads a stupid government pays a heavy price for it; nobody is spared.

Together, we must learn a lesson!
AustineE1:
The price of bad leadership, ordinarily what should take a Nigerian to Cape verde for holidays, when you have Obudu mountain cattle ranch,Yankari game reserve,Ogbonike cave,Olumo rocks,Kura force in Plateau state but all the mentioned places have been taken over by terrorists or gross mismanagement.
As long as we keep on making the wrong choices every four years, there is always going to be consequences. This is simply a law of nature,we will keep going down drain until we discover oil.
The comment below explains the main reason.

pietrodark:
Cape Verdeans will regard a light skinned person more than a dark skinned person. This isn't entirely about our country or what they've heard. And I'm not even speculating, this is based on real life evidence. A Cape Verdean will give more respect to a fair skinned person. Black Americans and Black Englishmen have been turned away from Cape Verde due to their skin colour.

I disagree, there's more to what happened than what was described.

That people regard light skinned people more is superfluous in this situation, the whole world does it.

where they dragging anything with a light skinned person to be turned back at the Iroort, of course not?

Lets hear the real reason, for them to be turned away from a tourist economy country, they did wrong an misbehaved on being corrected.

oga all u wrote here is rubbish

One thing outsiders know about Nigeria is crime

Forget your stories, they only remember crime when u talk Nigeria n they don't care about your politicians or internal conflict or terrorist.

I remember when I was in an arab country for a course, once u introduce yourself as a Nigerian the first question they ask u is that

Are u the Nigerian prince?

Or

Do u know hushpuppy?

Some will even give u space n some will treat u with the mindset that u can Rob them any moment

I remember I met a woman at an eatery n when she knew I was a Nigerian she said awusubilahi n left, it was later I learnt that that word means God rebuke d devil

Those people only know we do drugs, fraud n are criminals

They don't care about boko haram or your politicians

There's an American movie where a grandpa was telling his grandsons that he just hit a jackpot online n they replied that it could just b a Nigerian messing with his brain.

That's how they see us
Honestly, A movie or documentary should be made titled how they see us(Naija Version)

When O:ba:ma was president he introduced hshocked:m:osexualism which is anti black, he invaded Ly:Bia that was prosperous and messed it up. He didn't like gej because GEJ rejected hshocked:m:osexualism.
K:a:m:a:l:a Harris wanted to introduce a:bortions in black American communities. She also arrested many black people for minor offences. She sentenced a black woman to prison whose child was missing school because the child was SS genotype carrier.

Mixed raced people don't like black people and when they get political power they become fully anti black.

Cape Verde is filled with them.
