Thanks for asking.

I have added the new drivative beneficiary (by requesting that via the Public Inquiry Form); I have paid the fee, filled the form, and sent civil documents for the new beneficiary.

I have today (7:08 am) received the type of letter that I received when I initially sent my civil documents in November 2023—stating that "The National Visa Center (NVC) received all of the fees, forms, and documents that are required prior to scheduling your immigrant visa interview at a U.S. Embassy overseas. NVC will work with the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in Lagos, Nigeria to schedule an interview appointment for you. Once we have confirmed an interview date, we will send a notice to you, your petitioner, and attorney (if applicable).".

The letter contains the same details as the one received in November 2023, except for the date on which it was issued. So, I want to assume that the DQ date has changed. Though I am not so sure since only the priority date is specifically stated. The DQ date is not stated. I just assumed the DQ date is the date the letter was issued.

Please, guys, I still need information on how long derivative beneficiaries can be on "follow-to-join" and if I will be the one to inform NVC when they are ready for an interview, or if NVC will schedule them without asking me. I will be glad to know these. I have my beneficiaries moved to follow-to-join, for some personal reasons.

Please, those in different groups and platforms, don't forget to update us here as status changes.

Thanks.

Any update about the addition? Did your DQ change?
Re: USA Employment-based Immigration (EB-1,EB-2,EB-3 Visa) by uduafemhe24: 11:38am On Apr 23, 2025
I know someone with a similar experience. Turned out that his DQ was changed. My advice, follow up with NVC for your DQ to be restored.

Oh! Thanks for the info. I hope that works.

I should just write them via the Public Inquiry Form, right?

By the way, DQ is not stated in the letters (the first in November 2023, and the second today). Should I just quote the date of issue of my first letter as my DQ?

Thanks.

Alright sir!

I will be expecting your response.

Congratulations on your visa. You later transfer out of Lagos, right?

Thank you sir.

Thanks for updating.
With this, you have probably lost your spot on the queue for interview (Nov 2023). You could have added the new family member just after you receive IL, and you have nothing to loose.

Regarding follow-to-join, I will revert back shortly.

I went through the U.S. immigration process myself. I spent over $25k, worked with two different lawyers, and it took me 3 years to finally get my green card (EB1A). The process was stressful, confusing, and much harder than I expected.
Because of this experience, I started helping others with their EB-1, EB-2 NIW, and O-1 petitions. I’ve been involved in preparing strong petitions, business plans, publishing articles, and I’ve worked with licensed attorneys (20+ years of experience and 5,000+ successful cases.)
If anyone here has questions about the process or wants to hear how I approached it, feel free to reply me. Happy to share what I’ve learned.

Best thing is wait till you get IL, then contact embassy to add the new derivative. After you receive IL, you have no business with NVC and you cannot loose any DQ.

If someones name is misspelt in the visa payment invoice sent by NVC. Does the name needs to be corrected and another one issued before proceeding to making payment? My gurus in the house I need your answers. Thank you in anticipation.
Re: USA Employment-based Immigration (EB-1,EB-2,EB-3 Visa) by olig(m): 8:39am On Apr 25, 2025
I have no experience with this. But;

Is the name also misspelled in the CEAC application portal? Log in with your case number and the invoice number to check that. If it is misspelled there also, I will suggest you inform NVC immediately before making payment or proceeding (especially if it affects the principal applicant). While writing NVC, you can attach your acceptance notice.

Good evening,
Please, how do I search and know that my endeavour, which is maritime safety and security,y is of importance to the United States.

Thank you.

Helpout12345:
I love ❤️ as you provided more information.

Based on more information, I will recommend you use "A research chemist" as your endeavor. With those post qualification work experiences you listed, I say you qualify on merits of both Exceptional ability and advanced degree requirements of EB2. See this link below.

https://www.uscis.gov/working-in-the-united-states/permanent-workers/employment-based-immigration-second-preference-eb-2

A research chemist is of national interest to the US for sure and you will have to package your application to demonstrate how important is such scientist to the US national interest.

To demonstrate that you are well positioned to continue your endeavor in the US, keep being active in your professional organization pushing to the highest of "fellowship" if possible, keep publishing papers etc.

The papers you published sounds useful to me now. What is the current citations on those papers?

Overall, I am increasing your chances close to 80 pct, now based on how well you package the application.

On the side, have you checked EB1A criteria too? I can see you met 2 of the 10 criteria already based on the information you have provided so far.

Thank you.
There is no database to search this. You have to understand the US and the world to argue how important is your endeavor to the United States.

I will say Marine Security is of national importance to the US. You have to tailor your arguments towards 1. Security of the US sea port of entry and water ways such as adequate security of these prevent the US from external threats that can come through them. External threat could be terrorists, human and sex trafficking, etc. 2. Commerce. The sea ports are of very economic and commercial importance to the US. Safety and security lapses at these ports can have serious devastating effect on the economy of the country. 3. The sea and the oceans surrounding the US are also of national security against foreign adversaries like Russia, China etc. The US Coast Guard, Marine and Navy can use your expertise.

These are the ones I can think for now. There are many ways you can argue how Marine security is of national importance to any country.

Having said that, you must research data, articles, publications to back up all your claims of how Marine security is important to the US.

Thank You for this reply. The name is also misspelt in the ceac. I have sent a message to them and they requested for the biography page of the passport. Still expecting to hear from them.

There is no strict rules as per this.

From zero (0) to as many as possible. It all depends on your case. Sometimes, the more the better, and sometimes, it is the construction/content that matters. I used three (3), I have friends with similar profile that used five (5) and still got RFE, particularly on the Recommendation letters. Probably the adjudicator doesn't understand English or wasn't paying attention. The person simply wanted the exact works as used I'm the USCIS guidelines. Like say; "Mr A's qualifications and experience have positioned him towards advancing the field of Igbo Language". The adjudicator still argued that the recommendations did not state that he is rightly positioned to advance the proposed endeavor. .........

Recommendation letters are only compulsory for those applying with B.Sc. In that case, I think they need three (3) to five (5).
