Pls how do I fill this area, Intended place of stay in Germany, I don't have an accomodation yet or someone who I can stay with.

Hannania:
You don't book an appointment yet without. Getting reviewed. Upload all documents and the one you don't have , you can upload something there before they ask you to send for preliminary review.

You don't need to block anything now. Do so when they ask you to send your application. Coracle or Expatrio is best for block account

Search the page for the digital portal. I've posted it several times

Before sending for preliminary review, you can book a hotel online on booking.com and input it there.
I'll advise you to ask anyone you can find in DE to issue you a house address, and inform the embassy of your intention to stay there before getting your place. If you're using a sponsorship letter, you'd better use the address of your sponsor

Good evening, Hannania

I have successfully registered and I'm on the waiting list.

You know you stated that on the block account part, I should upload any document. I did so but my question is, during the preliminary stage, will I be allowed to edit and modify the documents uploaded? Because I can't modify them now.

Secondly, what's the next step since I'm on the waiting list? What would you advise me to do?

Brother, I can tell you categorically, that getting an SL from a random person without any relationship to that person, is likely gonna be a scam.

The most shocking aspect is that the people that would scam you are not the travel agents in Nigeria, because they can't issue it, but the Naija guys in Germany who are looking for ways to parasite on their fellow Nigerians back home. Trust me I have seen a lot of them back when I was still looking for help. They can milk you dry because of SL!

Most of them would charge you thousands of euros for sponsorship letter, which might still flop cos the embassy might still decide to deny you based on 1 or 2.

Once again: Don't give money to anyone for SL, not even the popular guys offering advice here. Watch out for those Nigerians on this thread claiming to be in Germany. Not all that glitters is gold.

I'm new here but I've been following this thread for a few days and this is by far, the most realistic advice I've seen anyone offer here. Even in the UK, those scamming Nigerians with sponsorship are not those in Nigeria but rather, the ones in UK. The UK authorities even caught some guys recently.

You can edit before sending it.

Just chill. When it's your turn, you'll get an email to send your application

Hello Hannania, thanks for your immense contribution to the thread, I've been following silently.

I’m currently preparing to apply for the Chancenkarte and would appreciate your (and other experienced members') clarification on a few important points:

1. I currently work remotely for my employer (German) and get paid in Naira. I'm exploring the option of having a part-time contract worth €900/month issued by my employer, to use in place of a blocked account or formal sponsorship letter.
Would this be accepted as valid proof of financial means or what amount do you think would be accepted, that is non-taxable?

2. I wasn't able to obtain my Primary 6 certificate (2006), but the Ministry of Education has offered to issue a Confirmation Letter in its place.
Will this letter be accepted as a valid substitute?

3. If the part-time contract is considered valid, would I be required to pay tax or social security contributions on the €900/month income? I'm asking this so I can understand what would apply and what the employer would realistically be willing to agree to.

4. From your experience, which German states or cities would you recommend in terms of affordability, ease of settling, and job opportunities—especially in tech roles like software development (4years)?

The Block account amount is €13,092. So your contract must be at least ,€1091/m

As long as the document you're getting from the ministry of education is a certificate of proof of primary education, then it's fine. It must be a certificate of primary education

Of course you'll pay tax. Any amount that goes above a mini job salary is taxed.

Forget about picking a city now. Just get a job and settle in. If you don't know the Language, Berlin is your best bet.

hello house, please i'd like to ask an urgent question. So a friend of mine is currently on the waiting list for chancekarte but presently realized he has misplaced his primary school certificate and his primary school has shut down. so what can he do? He is currently passing through the skilled worker route. Is the primary school certificate compulsory? and can they decline a visa due to not having it, even when he has a degree in Information systems?

@Hannania
You MUST upload a certificate of primary education. Ask your friend to go to the primary education board of his/her local government and get one. Without it, you're not passing the preliminary review stage.

Secondly, "Information Systems" as a course is not on Anabin. Which means your friend needs to do ZAB. Else, the waiting time would have been for nothing
Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by deim98: 12:45am On May 03, 2025
he has done zab. just the primary school certificate that's the problem. Will tell him.
how does one locate the primary education board. is that from ministry of education in lagos?

Also what if the primary school is a private school that shut down, will the board still issue him a certificate?

I have followed this thread from page 1 till now and I got enough information.
Please the course I studied is History and Diplomatic Studies and on the Annabin page, HISTORY alone is verified. Do you think I need ZAB?
That's not what you are supposed to check. You need to check your degree type, either B. Tech, BSC, B. Ed etc. not the course of study. Degree type must be A3, and university H+.

Hmmn, quick one, does it mean someone with a BTECH in Computer science or a Master of Information technology can't use Anabin as the BTECH degree type, Master degree type is recognised and computer science as a course/degree is recognised but when the degree bar is searched, BTech Computer science doesn't show up in the results, just BSC, BEd, kindly help out, thank you.
Clarify your question

Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by Nobody: 11:26pm On May 05, 2025
Mytime21:
Okay, I mean for someone who has a BTech in Computer science and a Master of Information Technology, when you search under the 'degree' tab on Anabin, the results are Bsc in Computer science, B.ed in Computer science, no BTech in Computer science but there's a Btech in Microbiology.

If you search under degree type tab, BTech is recognised.

Can Anabin be used? Is there any need to do ZAB again?
B.Tech Computer science is not recognised on Anabin. Though people have gotten approval with such cases, some where asked to go and do ZAB.

So apply for the opportunity card, while submitting for ZAB too. At best, if the embassy ask for it, it will be available.

Besides, you must do that ZAB when you get a blue card eligible Job. So just do it

Hello Hannania,
Kindly buttress the following questions:

1. I want to know what happens after completing the videx and uploading the 7/7 documents. Does joining the waiting list translate to sending my documents for preliminary review?

2. Is completing the videx and uploading documents same as sending it for preliminary review?

3. Is it at the point of uploading the 7/7 documents that I am to upload BA confirmation or during Visa interview? Or would the embassy request for another document review before the interview?

4. At what point do I submit the optional documents like health insurance?

5. What happens to those documents like primary school certificates that I couldn’t upload alongside secondary school certificates? Will there still be an opportunity for me to upload it when I obtain it?

6. Can I use my close friend who is a PhD student in Germany as a reference or would it be better to use my parent in Nigeria?

7. If I already have my masters degree evaluated by ZAB, are professional service roles in communications, government relations, and public relations in high demand and valuable for the opportunity card Visa?

8. Why are the editing options on the videx or document upload greyed out after completing the form and uploading documents?

1. After uploading everything, you automatically join the waitlist. The current waiting time is 2 to 6 months

2. No. When it's your turn, you get an email to send for preliminary review

3. When they ask you to send for preliminary review, the first thing they look out for is your BA or SL. If its not there, they won't review other documents. You'll be given around a month to upload it

4. You can take your health insurance on the interview date. But there's a field for it

5. That's the essence of a preliminary review. You won't get past it if you don't have all the documents

6. You can use anybody

7. You have to start applying for jobs to see if your field is in demand and what the requirements are

All these questions are not necessary. Germany has a very transparent visa process with no need for agents. They'll check all the documents you upload and inform you what's accepted and what's missing. So just calm down and wait for the preliminary review.

From my recent check on the system, it seems the waiting time has increased to 6 - 12 months. You may confirm this though.

It's not consistent. The system automatically updates the waiting time based on registrations and how many applications have been processed. This same week, it was showing 2 to 6 months. There was a time last month when it was 6 to 12 months too, but went back to 2 to 6 months

Mine still says 2-8weeks, (as at yesterday when I was prompted to log in and "continue with my application"wink and this is my 8th week. 🤷🏾‍♀️
