You can't track a car while still your country till the car reach another continent. Your security is compromised already. Anyway, let Dem release those cars to dem but next time, you'll pay. |

Stupid and prejudiced Interpol ! U tracked 150 stolen vehicles to Africa. U already found and ceased 75 and out of all these, only 6 were found in Nigeria. No account of who stole them, who are likely ur country people. No account of who sold them to the Nigerian importers. No account of the countries you found the remaining cars. Just concentrate on the 6 u found in Lagos and ignored the rest u found in other countries. |

Despite our religious beliefs, some will purchase stolen vehicles, some even knowing they are stolen. They will then buy and then go to church or mosque to pray. Just as they were able to identify two criminal networks behind this crime, they can further their investigations with the help of each country's national intelligence services to better understand these networks' modus operandi. It is important to note that our customs officers, with all due diligence, can also ensure that stolen vehicles are not cleared at our ports to deter other criminals. |

if this is possible without tracking it at the port of transit it therefore means that the international police is not doing a good job . |

njokuuche77:Y'all blame the country every seconds what happens to Saner Clime how did the Car leave dere Territory or the car just disappeared and appear in Nigeria,., If is vice versa you will still blame Nigeria... I guess since is Canada they're holy and a saner clime 100 plus car left a Saner Clime is the Country that received only 6 out of it all that's a criminal and the origin is a saint... |

Njoku, do you think it's the fault of our ports? I don't think so. It's the carelessness of the Canada Customs, Shipping Company that shipped those containers, Association of Canada Shipping and Administration, Canadian ports authority, the Canada Police , Canada Automobile Registration Company and of course the Canada Automobile Insurance Group. If these listed Canada institutions did their work very well as expected, there's no way those cars will make it into the Canada Ports dockyard talkless of shipping all the way to Africa. Even as deplorable and corrupt Nigeria Customs is, I tell you, you can't steal a car in Nigeria and ship it easily to other country without documentation. Nigeria is a very corrupt country o but for you to do such and ship to another country, I can tell you it's like Camel walking through the needles eyes...The Canada authorities needs to restrategize and up their services. They are too docile and non proactive probably due to low rate of those type of crime..... .... njokuuche77: |

franchasng:Lol blame Nigeria 247 how did the Car leave Canada. This not a mobile phone.... I'm sure if the Story was vice versa u will still blame Nigeria... Why exempt the country of origin a saner clime Stolen car are still been moved easily buh they're not to be blamed I guess since they're perfect.... Corruption is everywhere only 6 cars are in Nigeria out 70 plus recovered so I guess other countries too are holy.... |

Mathewrichard99:You’ve made some valid points, and I agree — the origin country definitely has its share of responsibility. If Canada’s systems worked flawlessly, those cars might never leave their shores. But here's the thing: no matter where a stolen car comes from, once it touches Nigerian soil, it becomes *our problem too*. The loopholes at our ports — from poor screening to compromised officials — allow these vehicles to get cleared and enter circulation. So yes, both countries need to do better. But we must hold our own systems accountable, not just point fingers. Because if we can’t detect and reject stolen property at our own borders, we’re enabling crime on a global scale. |
| Re: From Toronto To Lagos: Interpol Tracks Stolen Cars To Nigeria by njokuuche77(m): 10:10am On May 02, 2025 |
inoki247:I understand where you're coming from, but it's not just about blaming a country — it's about looking at the broader picture. Yes, the responsibility starts with the source country (in this case, Canada) to prevent these vehicles from being stolen and shipped out. But we also need to acknowledge that once these vehicles reach Nigeria, they shouldn't be able to slip through the cracks. The systems on both ends have gaps, and it's important to address both. No one’s denying that Canada’s customs need improvement, but we also can't ignore the need for better security and accountability within our own borders. It's not about blaming one country, but making sure both sides do their part to prevent crime |

Morbeta11:It's not new. It has been in practice with Ghana police and international communities police for years. Every year international communities receive back stolen vehicles shipped from their country to Ghana. So Nigeria should not be making it as if it's only happens in Nigeria. |

It is common knowledge majority of the high-end automobiles you see on our roads and in car-lots are "cargo". If a $7500 Byd dolphin despite having duty free status as an EV vehicle can cost 35m in naija, how much do you then expect eg a GWagon AMG that is like taxi at the streets of VI, Lekki, Abuja to cost? Who will be able to afford the actual price if not stolen? |

You must have read that those 6 cars found in Nigeria were discovered to have a break impacts during inspection inside the container by the Nigeria Customs, our Customs are very proactive, more agile than the Canada Customs, according to the narration, it was after seeing the alleged break in impacts that they now went to check the list of stolen vehicles registered sent by Interpol and from the list, it was found that those 6!cars were among..... Let's give Kudos to our Custom men. They tried this time around........ ..... njokuuche77: |

Engen:Nigeria is too big and diverse as a black nation for one black man to govern effectively. Dividing Nigeria using the 6 geological zone as template for 6 new countries to emerge or restructuring Nigeria using the 6 geopolitical zones to make each region completely independent with a less burdensome central government will make leadership micro and easier to manage. It will foster oneness, unity of purpose, which would also lead to healthy competition that will bring about progress for each region or new nations as the case may be. A black nation is not supposed to be too large and diverse, if not it will be too difficult to govern by a black man who identifies with his or her ethnicity first before any other identity |

This has been going on for decades. Govt agencies like customs and police shouldn't just be concerned with revenue generation only but value creation. |

It's not Africans who steal these cars. It's Canadians and eastern Europeans who actually steal these cars and sell them to Nigerians and other Africans |
| Re: From Toronto To Lagos: Interpol Tracks Stolen Cars To Nigeria by eastOFwest(m): 10:36am On May 02, 2025 |
inoki247:Yes, the criminal networks who actually steal these cars are not Nigerians. Nigerians don't have that sort of setup there. It's native Canadian criminals and other internationals like eastern Europeans and latinos |
