➜Not necessarily, it could all be that her desire to have children, supersedes her professed position. It is not material to me though as surrogacy means nothing to me
. Has she ever before now professed to being anti-surrogacy? If not, given that she came out to announce that her twins were born via surrogacy, I think it is indicative of her not being anti-surrogacy. undecided

Someone is blatantly displaying his ignorance on the first page of this post. So embarrassing

➜That's what it is to you. It takes a sperm, an egg and a womb to make a baby. All are essential...
What gives you the impression, at least from my post, that the ingredients required to make a baby are what matter to me? 😩😩😩

While I thought your head was on your shoulders tonight..my bad.
Tell me the agreement between you and a surrogate mother before she agreed to carry your baby and tell me if there's any difference with same agreement as in prostitution.
Biologically, a woman whose egg receives the spermatozoa is the mother of the baby. Enough said.
Ain't you ignorant, to some extent?
The eggs can be from Chimamanda, the sperm , her husband's. Surrogacy via IVF. The surrogate only 'housed' the foetus until it's born.
But if the surrogate gave the eggs, the baby is hers.
Chimamanda not yet in her menopause. The eggs were hers. The twins are her biological children

For goodness sake. Why is it your problem. It's not strange in civilized world. Kim gave birth to two and two by surrogate and the four children are her and Kanye West biological children.
Men marrying men is not strange in your civilized world? I do not look up to them for validation
I am a Yoruba man and do not need validation from outside unlike folk like yours that have completely surrendered your consciousness

I guess by civilized you mean Oyibo
I am sorry to tell you you are not capable of independent thinking and have no sense

I am an African
I am not interested in Kim or Milk and your other civilized idols

Feminist perspectives on surrogacy are diverse, with some feminists supporting women's right to choose surrogacy, while others view it as a form of exploitation and oppression. Liberal feminists generally view surrogacy as a matter of reproductive autonomy, while radical feminists argue it reinforces patriarchal control over women's bodies and reinforces traditional gender roles.

The assumption is that she is radical
The feminist perspective would take into account the motivation of the surrogate mother. If it is a family member it is different from just a random woman paid exploitative money because of poverty

Also important its why the woman is doing it e,g if she does not want to ruin her figure or disrupt her career through pregnancy and would rather pay someone else to do. That would be classed as a LIFESTYLE CHOICE and contradictory to feminism since it exploits the vulnerability of the surrogate mother

I don't want to say what's on my mind. However, this is double standards coming from Chimamanda who is a self acclaimed feminist. Is she not supposed to be a voice for women being a feminist?. Surrogacy is a form of slavery, prostitution, exploitation of a woman's body. She knew she didn't practice what she preaches, little wonder she didn't come out earlier. Like it or not, accept it or not, any baby born through surrogacy does not belong to you biologically. No matter how some states or countries might legalize it, biologically, the child isn't yours still. Well, I wish her well. But next time, stay one place, if you want to practice feminism, do it with your full chest, otherwise, commot. Reminds me of Linda Ikeji preaching abstinence but lo and behold, aunty was busy jumping on Uber to go and collect. I hate double standards.
PS; it seems some folks just want to argue for the sake of it. There's a reason she's called a Surrogate Mother
It shows you don't understand what surrogacy really is. The baby does not carry the gene of the mother that sired it. She's just a carrier, not even a donor.
If you doubt me, why then do you believe in DNA for determining the true fathers?
Stay out of what you don't know.

Did you even check the meaning of surrogacy before posting this? Let me explain it to you in it's most basic form: The husband's sperm is taken from him, the wife's egg is taken from her, they are joined together through a process called in vitro fertilization in the lab, and then this is inserted into the surrogate's (a consenting, well paid adult female) womb.

Now tell me, does this look like the process you just described above?
The child born through surrogacy is just like light You pictured a situation of switch and bulb but neglected the connection between the switch and bulb that produces the light. The blood of the surrogate mother is involve in the process, not to talk of the spiritual bond during the 9 months of pregnancy and the day of delivery.
Forget what the world says...

You mean like the blood and spiritual bond some new mothers towards the babies they either eventually abandon, kill or give away forreasons best known to them. That bond, right? undecided

Ignorant post. So why is the Father the biological father though he never carried the pregnancy??
It is her GENES being passed on. That's what matters. That's the instinct that drives our sexual activities. We're driven by instinct just like animals!

@ topic. She brought her private business to the public ... that was her choice. How can she not expect a backlash? I consider her very foolish to not expect condemnation. This is no different from a man publicly saying he's gay and not expect backlash and condemnation. This is Nigeria ... this is Africa ... it is against our culture. This is what happens when some people watch too much Western TV shows and get immersed into their culture ... then be making these kind statements in public here to people of a different culture. Obama did the same ... talking to Africans about 'the right to choose' in regards to an adult should be free to choose a partner of the same or opposite sex. Mugabe publicly condemned him . We have our culture .... they have theirs or in fact have none ..anything goes is not a culture. If any ... it's a culture of individualism .... each man on his own ...does what he wants to ..as in it's my body ...I can do what I want to do with it ... while our culture is one of community ... we do what is acceptable in our community.

This is the woman who criticized publicly Hilary Clinton for putting her husband first.

This is the woman who criticised priests in the catholic church.

This is the woman who supports Peter Obi.

This is what Nigeria dodged.

Glory be to God
She is a hypocrite and a fool. I notice this with women who scream for gender equality.

See how she stylishly deviated about renting a woman's body to birth twins, but this same woman will lampoon anybody who rent a woman's body to ejaculate. The hypocrisy is written allover her.

Xannadu:
The parents provide the sperm and egg, the surrogate is just the vessel for carrying the pregnancy.
Types of Surrogacy:
Gestational Surrogacy:
The surrogate carries the pregnancy, but the embryo is created using the intended parents' (or donors') eggs and sperm.

Traditional Surrogacy:
The surrogate uses her own egg to become pregnant, which is then fertilised by the intended father (or donor sperm

Only Aditche can tell what specific one she used.

Any wonder for a woman like her. Some wombs are just too toxic to hold a God creation, so she had to contract it out.

Does surrogacy contradict feminism in any way?
As a feminist, she is not expected to do it.
She bought another woman's body (prostitution) to carry out her agenda.

[ speaking grammar is not a sign of knowledge. You need knowledge and information because I noticed you are ignorant of how IVF Procedure and Surrogacy works. Don't you know that surrogacy is contractual and comes with consent.
