Chairman blame the lazy children also, abi you the fear lose their votes. The facilities are there, in fact what these children have at their disposal these days is far better than what was obtainable 20+ years back. But they choose to be lazy by all means, social media and quest for money has taken precedence.
The books wouldn't read themselves, as someone who teaches, I know what I am talking about.
So the system alone can't shoulder the blame

And you didn't invest in education while you wasted 8 years as governor of anambra state, alcohol was your only investment in anambra state and it's next to nothing according SOLUDO
Am not from anambra but no state in nigeria can match anambra in terms of education in nigeria

One thing is to educate, another is employment.

What good is it to educate 2 million people of which majority of them cannot be gainfully employed after?

In my opinion, there are strictly "Oyibo courses" mostly found in Humanities that need to be erased from the curricula. Why study Sociology, Anthropology, Zoology, Soil Science or Library Science in 2025?

Are we talking same Obi or another

DamnnNiggarr:
shocked

I'm back, after a long time of being away from Nairaland due to some special assignments that were assigned to me to carry out outside the shores of Africa, I noticed that many things have changed on the forum.

Now, back to the topic;

Nigeria my country should wake up and invest in education and other critical sectors like health, labour and employment, etc.

This should be a wakeup call and all tribal inclination to this honest call should be discouraged in its entirety.

even if God were to come down n say d same thing.....some crooks n thugs we have here will still not want to hear .....all they want is for Tinubu to remain in power n not to be challenged by any1
shortgun:
Peter Obi knows everything about the problems of Nigeria and has practical, simple and logical solutions for them.
Look at the way he articulated all his points in an organized manner.
He understands the sequence of applications and the expected results. This is what it means to be visionary; his brain is always active, constantly running in simulation mode. No wonder he’s a billionaire without corruption money....a worthy role model for younger generations who are now lost in the erroneous belief that the only path to riches is through criminal activity and the theft of public funds as exemplified by the current charlatan occupying the office of the president. Then there are the brainless bigots who have been programmed to suffer under captivity, bound by tribal sentiments.

Nigeria is too blessed to be broken.
With our wealth of natural and human resources, Nigerians should have no business with poverty, insecurity, hunger or hopelessness.

But for too long, we’ve left our future in the hands of those who see politics as a means to undeserved riches not a responsibility.
That ends now with Peter Obi.

Excellent submission 👏👏.
I'm sure you're aware of the connection between the two redded text : the brainless bigots are the enablers of why we continue to elect corrupt, irresponsible individuals who only care about personal aggrandisement into political offices.
And it's unfortunate that we seem to have an overabundance of thoughtless bigots in the country. And since politics is a game of number, those who are able to control these moronic bigots continue to win politically, albeit, to the detriment of the country 😭.
Do you have any idea on how we might effectively address this problem?

Anambra is leading in education in this country, thanks to PO. The evidence litter everywhere.

wowcatty:
How much of this investment did he make as governor of Anambra? Or what Peter Obi just needed all along is an English teacher to translate his own utterances in his own language before he speaks in public? We know how president Tinubu built schools despite him not receiving allocations for 8 years.

What is the point of knowing what to do when you failed to do it yourself for eight years that you were governor and had the power and authority to do it?

Make sure you have verifiable evidence of how many teachers he recruited and how he changed the ratio of public schools to private schools when you reply.

He knows everything about Nigeria but doesn't know everything about a single state he governed for 8yrs.

Look, when one is not in power, he has all the solutions and ideas but when in power, it's story story.

Talk is cheap. He cannot manage Nigeria. Its simple

The same man that failed to build a single school in 8 years.... grin
If your grandpa left over 20 schools for you which needs renovation as an inheritance. Will you use the scarce funds you have to go build new ones (about 10 again) or fix the old one and make them standard?

Please answer this. Or else shame on you and your cheap propaganda.

It's first a social service, but I can't blame a 3rd class student if he couldn't grab the basic concept. Beyond having a skilled population, sound education for every citizen guarantees security and safety and reduces nuisance to a larger extent. That's the greatest investment you can ever have as a nation. These are things taught in 100level economics, but how do you expect a dull philosopher to understand this?

If we allow politicians to keep gaslighting us on every issues, we will abandoned all our responsibilities and keep expecting only government to do all.

If parents at home can not take the responsibility of helping their children read their books and limit social media time, nothing will change no matter government effort.

It is hard for children to focus on their books these days except there are some measures by the parents.
Re: Education Is Not Just A Social Service; It Is A Strategic Investment – Obi by Reference(m): 8:13am On May 06, 2025
Most of the issues are structural with the government at the centre desperately trying to hang on to sole proprietorship of the country.

Just as security diversity is rigidly resisted on excuses of abuse at sub-national levels so tertiary education was once the exclusive playground of the Federal government and private ownership was resisted on excuses of variable standards and quality.

Most things we suffer today result from the structure of the country and the ways and means we conduct our affairs.

So it will take radical ideas from people in leadership that are not heavily exposed to the status quo. We need anti-establishment people in political leadership. Leaders that see the limitation of the present structure of this country and are courageous to change it.
