TheSuperNerd:
That lad is so young and his physical development isnt at par with the other U20 lads currently but a real talent is there.
I really feel sad for that U17 team. They were just so unfortunate to miss out of the CAF U17. They had the potential of doing well at the FIFA U17 WC.
And Cletus could have taken the world cup by storm. I believe this U20 provides him with another opportunity. Boy competes well with the U20s. Even a highly talented 17yrs old Kanu Nwankwo then couldn't compete with the U20 team that had Okocha, Tijania Babangida and Taribo West but had a master class tournament when dropped to play with the U17 team.

For Cletus to compete well at this level it really shows his potentials.

Daga in the midfield at this Afcon would have made a world of difference.
His passport situation that made him miss the Wafu B before his move to Molde was finalised cut him off from the team and his strong start to life at his new Norwegian club couldnt get them to release him.

He is missed and if this team picks the WC ticket, about than 70-75% of the team needs to be dropped.
Daga is doing pretty well in Norway

Discussing Daniel Bameyi as a CB prospect will be very dishonest on my part.

He is doing well. He has been a rock at the back but he is not one for the future sadly. It is so obvious.

Bameyi is 19
Emmanuel Chukwu will be 19 later this year
So what's the difference?

The success of this crop of U20 players is important. The 2013 & 2015 U17 products and other players of their Generation are already in their late 20s approaching 30.
If we don't assemble another crop of future Super Eagles with this crop, sorry we may have to turn our eyes to the foreign burns, even more now than before.

Bameyi said he is 19
Let's go with that
And he has been the best CB for us in this tournament

You are right but there is hope. We may have missed out on the U17 WC this year but we have another next year and annually till 2030.

That gives us potentially 4 U17 generations to grow and nurture into future stars. I only pray we get it right.

It is his 2nd U20 Afcon. His 5th overall U20 Tournament between 2023 and 2025. He was old then and he is still playing U20 now. Be real.

Yes, he is the best CB at this tournament so far but he is only repeating a class. A class repeater has advantages.

Auwal Ibrahim may have scored the winner against Tunisia but I am not impressed with him in midfield AT ALL. Bascovanveli, please better talk some game sense into your Akwa Utd lad oooo. I am displeased kindly.

Champions, Sundowns vs Chippa at HT now in the SA PSL.

Nwabali in goal and not having it good so far. Down 2-0 and committed an error leading to goal for the opponent.

Benched for Ayuma. Ochedikwu's physical presence in the middle vs Ayuma's ball playing nous. ZUBAIRU just went with his hunch.
That was a horrible hunch that he didn't correct throughout the game. Who was he expecting to win the balls they would play? He should pick 2 out of Ayuma, Ibrahim and Cletus. We need this type of player in this team.

Are you 100% surehuh I don't see a grown adult improving like that boy has done in just small time. Without him we are on our way back home.

Again, I dont deny his impact/performance at the back if you read my other bameyi comments but in truth, speaking of true long-term potential, what I can confidently say for young lads like Kparobo, Harcourt, Okoro, Cletus etc, I cant say for Bameyi.

And about his improvement, well Bameyi is at Bayelsa utd now. Surely the NPFL exposure is some cry away from when he was introduced to us as a yum yum fc player.

Ayuma's defect has always been his lightweight figure. Not imposing. Has a decent football brain but feels lazy in his plays at times. Kenya's MFs had a field day running through the middle lots of times with no rock to stop them.

And I agree. Ochedikwu for all his underpar passing, brings the energetic ball winning and possession initiation to our middle game. He should start with 2 of either Ayuma, Oliseh, Auwal, Cletus.

We don't have a crystal ball to know who will be who. But i feel Bameyi has shown qualities that can take him far. Tbh if he was a little taller this tournament would have been his ticket to Europe.
