Before they eraze JAMB, let NECO and WAEC be computer base test with CCTV in every corner, after that, let each university conducts her own entrance exams.

Isn't this too much gra gra for a country where a 190 JAMB score with five C6s from a Sokoto State indigene guarantees faster admission to study medicine in Sokoto than a 260 score with seven As in Anambra or Lagos? All this CCTV wahala over a quota system, Northern-bride education system? LMAO. 😂

Students of nowadays are already chasing money at 15! They are interested in Nairabet, gambling, yahoo and any quick money scheme.

I remember a few weeks before the exam, students were busy talking down on Facebook on the English text, Lekki Headmaster they were expected to read for the exam. Some were complaining about the author while some were arguing about the setting of the novel.

At the end now, what has been sown is now bringing fruit.

Truth is, the rot is getting more rotten.

* Exam malpractices that are presently shameful alarming in the conduct of NECO AND WAEC will quadruple because the results from the exams may likely be the first criteria to be considered before shortlisting .

* Re- introduction of money induced admission process .

If you’re educationally inclined you have nothing to fear about JAMB. However, university shouldn’t be for everyone

Nearly half the population of Nigeria participates in the entrance exam in China yearly and mass failures are always part of the narrative.

Good points but... where will they be admitted into. With subsidy going towards each head in the public schools, who takes care of the increase in university funding that more intakes will bring about?
It is time to tell ourselves we have failed with the current structure and culture. We need more doers and not people who demonstrate ability to learn for four or five years then change course.

Students cannot select as many schools as they like because that will be problematic for the universities interms of admission process.

They need competition like what neco is doing to waec

Op made a good submission. Jamb should be organized at least every 4 months because 1 year makes students to think the time is long but then exam comes. If it is 4 months, students can build on the momentum from the previous exam to pass the second one. Also JAMB scores should be valid for three years. Out system is plain stupid!

It's not about fashion. As the universities currently stand they are overwhelmed and with poor infrastructure/resources. Technically, JAMB regulates the carrying capacity.

Great write-up. Especially using models USA adopts. One thing is certain, it exposes our level here in Nigeria. There's a lot of work to be done. Someone talked about allowing resits. I think it's a great idea and should be considered by educational authorities here in Nigeria. One thing I know about Nigeria is that we are averse to change but then, change is the only constant thing in life. Look at the way we're reacting nationally to fuel subsidy removal.

Gragra, yet the same Sokoto, billions of Naira are being siphon for personal use.......I guess you will wait for eternity for it to come to effect.

If I say my own now, they will say something else. With all the jamb paparazzi, our educational standard is not at par with other countries in Asia, Europe and America where they don't write UTME. I just see the agency as a money making machine for the government. My suggestion: fortify the SSCE process (Waec, Neco), scrap UTME, ensure transparency in the University admission process and let qualified candidates gain admission seamlessly without UTME.
