Is this normal? It's is so draining, just like I'm paying a house rent in my own house. Could this be as a result of bad wiring or na so everyone dey feel am.

tbh, if you spend just 100k monthly for all this appliances you have, you should consider yourself lucky, my brother uses 5k per day and they only put ON 1 AC at night for 6hours.

Ghen ghen....seems you are new to band A around you there, it been Almost 2 years here, unplugged AC , like 5hrs use of Fridge for a week ,watching machine,TV , few energy saving bulbs ,2 DC/AC fans (low consumption and works on battery) I still spent up to 5k weekly..self meter that make me able to control and minimize.....what about people that share , what about face me I face you I heard those one light bill supercede their monthly rent....., go to all area using band A ask them to choose from 12hrs light for disband or continue with band A result for disband will be 99.9

But is the light stable ,yes or no? Ans beside ,I always wonder why people nare comaplain.i ca decide to off my meter to just use it for 3hrs in a day but I am sure i will get the light anytime I need it

Any month I mistakenly turn on fridge 50 something thousand will go.

I see more than 20hrs daily.

I just put on fan, infact, if I want to goto sitting room, will put off bedroom fan and put ON sitting room fan and i still spend roughly 30k monthly.

I make use of washing machine tho

I have a solar inverter but it's more of a backups for lighting and fan only, it's a two battery inverter and na sun they charge am because there's always electricity. Na AC i no fit use on band A,it's a luxury to use AC both at home and in the car now. My children are not used to this, they have been complaining since we switched to a prepaid meter last November, I refused to buy a prepaid meter because of the news I've been hearing about it but nepa started bringing 194k monthly on my postpaid account forcing me to switch to a prepaid meter. Nigerians earn so little nowadays because of inflation and worthless currency but end up spending more on bills, it's well.

Go and get like 10kva solar system for your house and off public power supply from 6am to 6pm and possibly at night except when you are expecting visitors

We are in exactly the same shoes. I use just the basics and I am spending 30k plus in a month. Imagine having constant light yet you are afraid to use it because of the crippling financial cost.

I no longer on my smart tv, home theatre, use water heater and even the basic ones like fan, laptop, 5watt bulbs that I am using, I am loading my prepaid as if I am paying all these loan companies.

I am now seriously considering buying a solar inverter for use.

Thats because some greedy corporations hijacked power supply from government.

Utilities are a basic necessity, they re not supposed to be privately owned. Electricity prices are inflated to reward a greedy minority that enjoy it for free.

I'm on 33kva and expensive band A.
One thing is, you might be on an old meter not migrated to band A. I have the same around me. I pay crazy bills while someone else pays cheaper in the same estate.
But expect high billing to come one day sha.

Solar wont last, the panels have a shelf life , the batteries have a shelf life , solar is useless at night and during rainy season. Get a generator instead.

Are you sure your connection has not been bugged? 90k per month seems like a lot, even if you are using an air-conditioner(I'm assuming it's an inverter AC). Also, what's the wattage of the air fryer? Can you also cut down on the number of hours your fridge stays powered? You could reduce that to 6 hours per day. From my observation, if you power a chest freezer for 24 hours, 10k worth of power unit may not last for morethan 3 days. So I'm guessing your refrigerator might be a culprit.

There's no country where people's electricity bill for a 3-bed room for a month is greater than their monthly wages.

Nigeria's case is weird and completely different

Go solar, you wouldn't regret it, though the money is quite high but trust me, you'll enjoy in the long run

Its either you are lying or the only electronics you have in your home is only your phone with no bulbs. I am on 33 kva Band A and 5k gives me just about 22 units or so and it does not last me up to 5 days.

Oga where in the world aside naija is electricity bill more than rent, more than minimum wage?
Eg in UK how much is average bill £100? I doubt, must be less. The lowest earners make 1500-2000 monthly. For that you will see 60-100£ bill is payable.
But in naija where few people even earn 70k minimum wage then you are spending eg 20k on nepa, another 30k to power "I pass you neighbour", or a better earner earning 1m monthly and using 150-200k.
Compare the cost to the earning and you will see in naija own case, this is not about electricity being expensive all over the world.

Nigerians with their ultra-low cheap labour wages and low purchasing power devalued currency are being forced to pay what those in advanced countries in Europe, USA, UK pay for electricity.

the meter in my house has been there for years and it was this january they upgraded to band A without any announcement.
just found out when recharging.
