No resident doctor earns less than 400k in a public hospital in Nigeria as at today. Maybe the 316k excludes call duty allowance

Even, some mafiasos in New York earn more than specialist doctors. Does that make America a crude nation?

You are comparing apples to oranges.

Or are those working there are not considered doctors?

Doctors are overpaid if you ask me.
There's no logical explanation why Doctors should earn more than Engineers. After all, seeing a doctor doesn't guarantee one will survive an illness or die.

That’s false. A resident doctor who just started residency earns about 450k, a senior reg earns almost 620k, a consultant could go as high as 800k

This response is very clear and concise.
Doctors need to understand that the various parts of the body, need each other.
As health professionals, the ultimate goal should be how to achieve complete patient care not who is more superior.

People giving hot takes without thinking.
A resident is in his late 20s or early thirties when he should be getting married, buying a house or whatever project. On top of that, there will be people billing him just for being a doctor. How can he buy a car, fuel it and take care of other expenses from such a salary

Imagine a P.A to a politician with ordinary NCE or WAEC will be earning more than a medical doctor. A local government ward councilor earns far more than a medical doctor.
Tomorrow the useless government will be asking them why are the doctors japa to Europe.
Nigeria government regards Motor park Agbero far more than Doctors.
Because they use them for their election.

Money no dey do this guys walahi. All their strikes basically na about money. We know say na professional career but compare that to that of teachers that is equally a professional career. You go see say the professional occupational strata of both no balance at all.

Lol... Just watch how our "Patriots" will rush into the thread foaming at the mouth, screaming that the pay is even too high for them.

...That they got trained for "free", and should be paid peanuts. grin

Well, there is a reason your elected leaders and politicians prefer to treat even common cold and migraine in hospitals abroad where doctors are not paid 1,000 Naira or less per hour.

...For proper context... That's less than 1 Dollar per hour. tongue

Freelancers with only a Diploma working from home as Virtual Assistants earn at least 5 Dollars per hour, while a whole medical professional earns 5 times less while risking his health and peace of mind to save lives daily.
