Working hours isn’t the reason why building dey fall in Nigeria. It’s the greediness that’s in average Nigeria blood.. I’ve been to several Africa countries and I can confirmedly tell you, they mostly build their houses overnight and building no dey fall.. |

Hmmm This policy does not cover the grey areas. Some builders (I dare not call them engineers) will not allow a newly decked building to cure properly before commencement of another floor. Now tell me how this policy will mitigate that. There should be a time frame for things like, Foundation, DPC level, Lintel, Roofing, Decking and the likes. This policy tends to cater more for heath and safety of workers than the building itself. Iré o |

Apparently, poorly designed buildings, using substandard materials, cutting corners is fine during the working hours mandated. It must be from a scientific study !! |

Okoo,it suppose to be nation wide because labourers working longer hours more than their strength could carry will have have a dangerous affect on the project. |

Is it that people in public offices are dumb or what? What correlation do working hours on building sites have with building collapse? Shouldn't they rather insist on government approved building standards and close supervision of building sites? |

It's even good for security reasons. Thieves hide in construction sites at night so they can rob in the middle of the night. |

"Olumide said that the move to restrict working hours at building sites was expedient to protect the environment, combat building collapse, and promote social well-being and wellness.." How does this make sense ? ![]() Except you add this to the gbegiri However, concession to work outside these hours could be granted, subject to a formal application that would be treated on its merits. You know say pepper must flow na ![]() |

You are very correct my sister, it takes a minimum of 3 week for concrete to strengthen up but the builder will not allow that due to greed. This policy does not cover the grey areas. If u are serious 90 percent of buildings in Lagos island should have been sealed. But as long as a corrupt govt can get tax, votes and thugs from an area any nonsense will be permitted in such areas |
