I can't remember but I think you can choose living with family. If that option is not available, then choose Own.

I think there is a portion for additional details so you can put that you live with your family and then state who actually owns the house.

Click on “other” then explain in the box provided.

You can just phrase it that “my parents own the property”

Thank you.

I will advise you, with the increasing spate of refusals not to attach cac if you will not tag your bank statement.

Better to apply as an employee for your/an organisation and say you are working as XYZ.

Attach employment letter too to proof that.

Work on your payslips but be sure it reflect what you have on your bank statement.

Typically, irregular monies in your account can cause refusals.

Explain with a letter if need arises, avoid lengthy explanation, tabulating can help give analysis of your finances.

Attach proof of ties to Nigeria.

Other supporting documents.

Technically, don't mention on your application you have someone in the UK, you are a first time applicant.

Others can add something too. Goodluck.

1. Self employed with Business registered with CAC. however, do not have a company bank account operate with personal bank account - that will be an issue. Why do you not have a company account?
2. Sibling will be inviting so accommodation and feeding is sorted - that's fine
3. Married with 3kids but traveling alone - spouse and children will serve as home ties
4. No travel history[b] - not an issue if you fill your form carefully and present releveant documents[/b]
5. Holiday is for 2weeks[b] - that's fine. You can cut it down to 10 days to decrease the cost
Kindly advice on how to go ahead with the application to avoid visa refusal. Thank You

She uses her personal bank account for running the business. I guess requirements for opening of business bank accounts is a lot.

Hello Guys,

Please i need input here. I applied for my mum's visa and got refusal but the reason just doesn't sit well with me.

Please find the refusal letter below:

Firstly no way 5,000,000 is £9k.

Secondly , My mum was a trader and this is genuine. There's no pension or credit to her account i explained this in the cover letter. Mentioned she was a retired self employed woman and all.

Lastly the 5m is genuine as i send her roughly 100k every week because of situation of things in the country. This can be seen in the bank statement
Refusal Summary: What Went Wrong
Lack of Retirement Proof:
You wrote that your mum is retired (from self-employment/trading), but no documents proving retirement were provided.
ECOs expect something like:
Retirement ID or letter (for civil servants, pensioners),
Or a simple sworn affidavit or letter explaining retirement from informal/self-employed work.
No Regular Income Clearly Linked to Her Name:
Even though you send her ₦100,000 weekly, ECO couldn’t identify this because:
The bank statement may not have shown transfers labeled with your name.
You may not have included a letter of financial support from yourself with a clear explanation of those regular transfers.
They Questioned Her Financial Independence:
They saw no proof of personal income (retirement pension, rent, business, etc.).
And they didn’t find enough credible financial support in the documents to show she’s well-supported for this trip.
✅ What You Should Do Before Reapplying
Here’s how to address the refusal with precision:

1. Fix the Retirement Proof

Since she was self-employed:

Write and notarize a retirement declaration (affidavit or letter) stating:
"I, [Full Name], formerly worked as a trader at [location] for over 20 years. I have now retired due to age and am no longer engaged in business."
Attach any old trading license, market union card, or receipts if she has any.
If none, the sworn statement will be enough when clearly written.
2. Show Regular Support from You

Write a sponsorship/support letter:
"I, [Your Full Name], am the daughter/son of [Her Full Name]. I send her ₦100,000 weekly to support her. These transfers are visible in her attached bank statements under the following references..."
Highlight the transfer lines in the statement.
Attach your own bank statement if you want to further confirm you’re the sender.
3. Update Her Cover Letter

Update it to clearly explain:

That she is a retired trader (not pensioned).
That her ₦5 million balance comes from your regular family support.
That she has no obligation to work anymore and her financial needs are covered.
That she has strong personal ties in Nigeria (property, family, responsibilities).
4. Add a Declaration Explaining the 5M

If they doubted the ₦5M, explain:

"The funds in my account have been saved over time from regular support provided by my children. These include ₦100,000 transfers received weekly as family support."
🚫 Common Mistake: Assuming the ECO Will “Understand”
ECOs will only go by what’s clearly documented. If it isn’t in writing — or traceable in a straightforward way — it won’t be considered. So while you know the funds and support are genuine, they can only act based on evidence in the application.

Please guys,
I am in a tight corner like this.
I applied for visa via the priority (5 days) on the 15th of this month due to my exam next week Wednesday in UK. Up until now, no response. I called their home office in UK and they confirmed that they’ve attended to my application but no email.
What can I urgently do?

Hello Everyone,
Today makes it 15working days after i completed my biometric, however instead of being notified of the decision, I got this email

"Regarding your visa application we are unable to make a decision on your application within published visa processing times.Do not contact UK Visa and Immigration, we will contact you if we require more information. Please be assured that we will continue to progress your application to make a decision as soon as possible."

Please what does this imply as I need to travel on or before June 4 for a Medical exam in the UK? Beyond this date the Visa is of no use
They haven’t even replied me, same date of exam. How do one preceed?

No response yet. Seems there's nothing one can do than to wait. This is inappropriate

Asin ehn, I have been anxious since. I don’t even know whether to cancel the exam, coupled with the issue of almost no refund.
