Daniel Craig is far more closer to Ian Fleming's concept of James Bond compared to Pierce or Roger (and I say this as a Roger Moore fan).

On hiatus for now. They are searching for the new Bond.

The problem is, the films are (it is being argued) no longer relevant for today. The kind of people that watched Bond are getting older, and the young , with their more 'egalitarian and woke' ideals do not like the idea of a violent, womanizing MI6 agent.

(Also most real life spies never did like Bond though. They thought the books and the films gave a flawed view of their work description. Some will say that John LeCarre's novels and the films of the novels as well as the Ipcress file with MIchael Caine from 1966 give a more accurate view).
