BarbieGoldD:You might still want to go ahead with what you're planning (submitting both applications together), but just know that what you're considering is a serious red flag to IRCC. It could easily lead to a double rejection — but hey, what do we know, right? The main issue is that IRCC will likely see this as you not having strong ties to Nigeria and him not being able to leave you, making it look like you’re using the study and visitor visas as a way to get to Canada and then claim asylum. That’s a big red flag and very likely to lead to a double rejection. In my opinion, it’s better to apply separately — you go first as the student, get to Canada, settle in, and then he can apply for a visitor visa later. IRCC’s usual approach: Mother/father with an underage child (where the child is the student): Yes, more acceptable. Both parents with the underage child (as the student) : No, unless they can show very strong proof of funds and a successful business or strong ties to Nigeria — basically something that proves they must return. Husband and wife applying at the same time (one for study permit, one for visitor visa): Almost always a no, unless they have exceptional circumstances ( eg wife needs physical help to travel) and strong financials. |

BarbieGoldD:You can apply with your husband but make sure you state why he is going with you in your SOP( e g., to help you settle in). Extra money is important, he should show that he has a job here in Nigeria he is coming back to. |

Good evening all, Please advise for a family of 3 where wife is primary applicant with 5k funding available. Husband will apply for SOWP plus a 7month old baby. Available fund is 74m in total across naira nd USD. Land worth 11m. Would you suggest we apply together or wife and child first. Also would the 74m be sufficient as POF if we want to apply as family? I'll be glad to get response. |

Hello all, please I need help with this question. I submitted a study permit application together with spouse SOWP. My spouse will need a medical exam, given she answered yes to staying 6 months in listed country. However, the "Request for Medical Exam Form" Did not show up, despite answering all the necessary questions correctly. Do we not need medicals? If we do, what is the solution for the missing form if application is already submitted Thank you in advance |

creolehunt:Living expenses for 3 for first year = $31,583 Tuition = $19,000 Exigencies and flight = $5,000 Total = $55,583 Naira equivalent = N1,195 * $55,583= N66,421,685 On the surface the N74m, you have will be enough to cover your first year expenses, however with IRC, it is not just about having the funds you need to show how the funds were raised with documents, so that they will know it is not funds for demonstration. The land cannot be used as POF since it is not liquid cash, you can use it as home ties. In addition, you need to show how subsequent years, will be funded since all of you are travelling together. |

Bobomaigida:We're leaning more towards mother and daughter going first. Then husband apply later. 1. Do you think this presents a more viable option? 2. The Statement of account we plan to use has 90% of the funds in it transferred from our business account (company is owned by me and my spouse and both of us as directors). This spanned over more than 6months. Our last application was filed using the company account as POF,so this time we are using a personal account into which we have been setting aside money for the travel? Would this be a problem? |

Hello Everyone, My previous workplace was shut down due to issues with the SEC. While I was employed there, our salaries were paid through the company’s microfinance bank, which was also closed as a result. Because of this, I no longer have access to my payslips from that job. I recently completed a data science course, which aligns with my studies in Canada, and I’m currently interning in the field. My mother is my financial sponsor. Given this situation, should I include my previous job in my application even though I can’t provide payslips as proof of employment? |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Bobomaigida: 8:22pm On May 30, 2025 |
creolehunt:1. This option is good but you need to make provisions for day care since your baby is still young and the mum will be schooling. 2. This is better, but still explain how the funds were raised from the business since that is the source of funds |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by creolehunt: 8:48am On May 31, 2025 |
Bobomaigida:Thank you for your response. Really we're conflicted in terms of increasing our chances and the reality of the baby. If we apply as a family, I'm worried about how to prove home time, even though we have a joint business, wife has a federal govt job, husband has a good job too. Even if wife goes first and leaves baby and hubby behind. What are the chances that baby and hubby will get SOWP and Visit Visa in the shortest possible time? If wife goes alone, she definitely cant come for baby till she gets PR as anything before that will still raise question of daycare and all. |

| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Bobomaigida: 5:00pm On May 31, 2025 |
creolehunt:It is not as if there is no day care, there is, the only thing is it is expensive. She can go with the baby, just have enough funds to pay for day care, then she apply for spouse to join her later. |

creolehunt:My suggestion for you in order to increase your ties back home, I'll recommend applying alone. Once your visa is out, you can then file for your accompanying spouse and little baby. Happy New Month Everyone It will end in praise |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by creolehunt: 4:20pm On Jun 01, 2025 |
Frankrobbn1:This makes sense, but someone said the VO will deny me instantly if i mention I'm leaving my toddler behind. Secondly, what are the chances that the Visa for my spouse and baby will be granted when they apply. |

Please what do i take as a document to the IOM centre appointment once I am able to book a date. I ask cos I found this somewhere: "PLAN YOUR MEDICAL EXAM If you are still not sure if you need a medical exam, check with a visa office near you. If you do need a medical exam, your visa office will give you instructions and a form with your file number before you see a panel physician" Also, do I pay for IOM online during appointment booking or at the office? Whats the usual cost? Thanks. |

amnotapervert:Sponsor 1 Documents (Company) 1. Letter of Sponsorship 2. Article of association and memorandum 3. CAC CERTIFICATE 4. Particulars of directors in the company 5. Tax Clearance Certificate 6. Company bank statements for the past six (6) months. 7. Board Resolution Letter stating that they are fully aware of this sponsorship and approve it. 8. Affidavit of Support 9. Business invoices God bless you for your previous reply. it was insightful and I helped him write a SOP. I am about to submit the application and have everything above except number 2 and 7 on the list. His Dad has written a personal letter of sponsorship as he owns the company and is a major shareholder. There are however other shareholders (wife - major as well) and 2 others (minor shares). Does the company need to write a letter of sponsorship as well? Or is this where number 7 would be helpful to cover? BTW are the particualrs of the directors compulsory. IF yes, dow e mean International passports strictly or any ID will do? Thanks. @ALL Please share your opinions as well, I would be glad to ehar from everyone for advice.... |

esosa4real:Sorry for the late reply. The weather was good this weekend, so I was outside all weekend. Yes, it would be good for the company to write the letter, but it would also be important to state that the two other minor shareholders are aware that the company—where his dad is a major shareholder—is sponsoring the person. Look at it this way: you’re trying to clear any doubt that IRCC might have about the ownership of the company, the money that will be spent for sponsorship, and the availability of that money when the person needs it to come to Canada. If possible, make sure that the acceptance fee to secure admission was paid from that company account if possible and use it as a document during Visa application. This would show intent and capacity to make payments from that account. People like "Badadvisor" who claimed to have all the sponsorship money sometimes come to Canada and then realize they lied on their application. They start blaming the government, even though they told the government beforehand that they could afford everything as an international student. You’re doing everything in your power to convince IRCC that you have the money—and that the money is available in an account fully controlled by your sponsor and ready for you at any time. |

esosa4real:Giving an international passport or ID might be too much. The letter from the company should just include the names and signatures and contact details of both minor shareholders. use company letter head Side note: Make sure that the names of the minor shareholders match the names listed in the Particulars of Directors for the company. Simply state that the two other minor shareholders are aware that the company—where his dad is a major shareholder—is sponsoring the person. Their signatures on the document will be sufficient. Providing ID or an international passport is too much. Instead, include contact details (like a phone number) under the signatures of both shareholders. Make sure they are aware of the details in case IRCC contacts them. We are trying to give IRCC enough information to be satisfied, but not so much that it raises unnecessary questions. |
