After an initial rejection in August 2024 due to a form error, although I didn't receive the notification until December 2024 because of mailing issues related to my Nigerian address, I submitted a second petition on 8th May 2025, which was approved on 17th May 2025. I opted for premium processing in the second submission and I used a US address.

1. I-140 Filing Fee = $715
2. Asylum Program Fee = $300

If you are paying by check or money order, you should submit the Asylum Program Fee separately. If you are paying using a credit card, you may use one credit card form for all fees, including the Asylum Program Fee.

Additional Information:

Individual self-petitioners pay the reduced Asylum Program Fee of $300 when filing Form I-140 as an EB-1A person of extraordinary ability or as an EB-2 national interest waiver applicant. In this case, on Form I-140, self-petitioners select “yes” in response to Question 6 in Part 1 of the form to indicate they employ fewer than a total of 25 full-time equivalent employees.

Note: I hired an immigration attorney for everything. My attorney filled I 140 and made all necessary payments. Of course, I understand the entire process because I had filed NIW-EB2 about a year ago.

You can transfer to Togo or Benin Republic. It's easier to get their resident permit .

Good Day Fam, Regarding this new travel ban warning, I have some questions> 1) When Can someone transfer his case to another country(before or after the ban?.( 2) Who has insights if Nigeria will meet up the requirements before the Ban takes effect?. Thanks in anticipation.

My dear we thank God for that, but the main thing is this IL(invitation Letter) Nigeria is far far back. Even when you are current on PD, getting IL is taking almost a year. Lagos consulate should help us!!!!.

Thanks a lot...I know we are far behind in getting IL but I have a resident permit of another West African country which I believe would be useful when the time comes. I will suggest we seek another another alternative to this IL issues.

My husband's petition was approved in December 2023 and he is in the USA. Myself and our daughter are in Nigeria and we are to do consular processing but I am yet to get a welcome message from NVC. So I am wondering that is it until his date becomes current and he files for AOS that I will get the welcome mail from NVC. Please help
