Understanding the Word of God, abiding and heeding is paramount to true christian life, living and spiritual growth.


The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit and ministers that which is of Christ Jesus to our spirit.
There are two channels basically if I'm not mistaken and it's through God's Word and through your spirit man.
If you follow the Scripture and those who had the experience of Him as written in the Holy Bible.



The Holy Spirit does not do flashback if by flashback you mean bringing back past events into remembrance.
That is being done by God through what is referred to as ministering spirits(Angels).
Though not all ministering spirits are of God and that's why Scripture says, "Tests all spirits."

The way I believe holy spirit speaks to us is that every steps make and every thought of your heart will only lead you to the right part, even before you talk to people what will come out of your mouth will work for your own good even it sounds stupid at first.

Holy spirit speaks to you 24 7. The way your life is going is the communication from the holy spirit. Just observe your life and your surroundings. If you are driving and you enter a head on collision that destroys your car ? That's the holy spirit trying to tell you that you are on the path to destruction. If you are committing adultery and catch gono, that's the holy spirit trying to tell you that you will burn for this sin, if someone steals your money that's the holy spirit trying to keep you as a prisoner because money is freedom. Why keep you as prisoner ? Maybe it wants your attention to teach you something but the money is distracting you etc etc etc. everything happening to you is a communication from the holy Spirit

Aside the things already written in holy books. The truth is nobody knows exactly how else God speaks with people.

Some would say through vision, some would say through inner feelings, some would say through dreams, some would say through interpretation of signs and circumstances, some would say through other people. Etc.

But the truth is nobody actually knows. And that’s why it’s easier to mistake things for God’s calling.

While there are genuine people of God, a lot of these callings are results of the functions of the nervous system and hormones. nothing more.

So if you’re religious, hold your holy book seriously. That’s your most reliable compass

You are very correct, (I'm talking in the Christian sense only please). So while as beautifully pointed out several times above, The HOLY GHOST speaks through Scriptures, the inner witness ( meaning feelings, peace, restraint), through godly, and even, in at least one special instance, ungodly people (1 Kings 13:20-24), visions, dreams, audible voice, prophecies, and trances.
However, like you pointed out, it's possible to think your own internal thoughts etc are the voice of The LORD. How then do you make sure of this? Hebrews 5:14. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
So, it's practice that makes you more able to know more accurately when GOD is speaking to you. Hence the need to walk and fellowship with GOD. When you do this, you will be one of HIS sheep who hear HIS voice. John 10:27
Recall that Samuel was mistaken in thinking Eliab was The LORD's anointed. May I say, before all this becomes an issue, the first step is to gain salvation with GOD, through faith in The LORD JESUS CHRIST. Shalom everyone.

There is nothing unique in it since it has been discovered that 10s of millions experience it daily and most of them do not have a god-experience.
