Various Ways The Bible Defines Faith by 24hoursreporter: 7:19am On Dec 16, 2018
Faith is arguably one of the most used words in Christianity. Sadly, most people don’t really know what it means to have faith. It goes beyond the kind words of encouragement and inspiration you hear from your pastors every day.

For people that pray fervently, they will definitely understand the power of faith. Whether you like it or not, having faith in God helps a lot. In fact, it can take you from any situations when you think there is no way out.

In this article, we will discuss the different ways bible defines faith with emphasis on Bible verses.

Ways the Bible Defines Faith Through Its Verses

Before we proceed, it is important for you to understand the concept of faith in Christianity. Faith means having complete trust in God. In other words, when you are faithful, you believe in God no matter the challenges or trial you find yourself.

2 Corinthians 5:7: For we walk by faith, not by sight.

1 Corinthians 6:12: “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be enslaved by anything.

Romans 12:3: For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.

Romans 8:37: No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Romans 8:28: And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Romans 4:17: As it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations”—in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.

Romans 1:16: For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Acts 16:31: And they said, “Belief in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Continuation – Ways The Bible Defines Faith Through Its Verses

John 20:31: But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that by believing you may have life in his name.

John 14:6: Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 6:53: So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

John 3:3-6: Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Luke 17:19: And he said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.”

Mark 16:16: Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Mark 10:17-31: And as he was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’” And he said to him, “Teacher, all these I have kept from my youth.” And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

Matthew 17:20: He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Matthew 8:1-34: When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him. And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a proof to them.” When he entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him, …

Matthew 7:16: You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles?

Matthew 6:10: Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Daniel 4:1-37: King Nebuchadnezzar to all peoples, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you! It has seemed good to me to show the signs and wonders that the Most High God has done for me. How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion endures from generation to generation. I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at ease in my house and prospering in my palace. I saw a dream that made me afraid. As I lay in bed the fancies and the visions of my head alarmed me. …

Jeremiah 27:1-22: In the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord. Thus the Lord said to me: “Make yourself straps and yoke-bars, and put them on your neck. Send word to the king of Edom, the king of Moab, the king of the sons of Ammon, the king of Tyre, and the king of Sidon by the hand of the envoys who have come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah. Give them this charge for their masters: ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: This is what you shall say to your masters: “It is I who by my great power and my outstretched arm have made the earth, with the men and animals that are on the earth, and I give it to whomever it seems right to me. …

Jeremiah 5:1-31: Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, look and take note! Search her squares to see if you can find a man, one who does justice and seeks the truth, that I may pardon her. Though they say, “As the Lord lives,” yet they swear falsely. O Lord, do not your eyes look for truth? You have struck them down, but they felt no anguish; you have consumed them, but they refused to take correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to repent. Then I said, “These are only the poor; they have no sense; for they do not know the way of the Lord, the justice of their God. I will go to the great and will speak to them, for they know the way of the Lord, the justice of their God.” But they all alike had broken the yoke; they had burst the bonds. …

Psalm 68:1-35: To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. A Song. God shall arise, his enemies shall be scattered, and those who hate him shall flee before him! As smoke is driven away, so you shall drive them away; as wax melts before fire, so the wicked shall perish before God! But the righteous shall be glad; they shall exult before God; they shall be jubilant with joy! Sing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts; his name is the Lord; exult before him! Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation. …

Psalm 62:1-12: To the choirmaster: according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken. How long will all of you attack a man to batter him, like a leaning wall, a tottering fence? They only plan to thrust him down from his high position. They take pleasure in falsehood. They bless with their mouths, but inwardly they curse. Selah For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. …

Psalm 24:1: A Psalm of David. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein,

Psalm 21:1-13: To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. O Lord, in your strength the king rejoices, and in your salvation how greatly he exults! You have given him his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah For you meet him with rich blessings; you set a crown of fine gold upon his head. He asked life of you; you gave it to him, length of days forever and ever. His glory is great through your salvation; splendor and majesty you bestow on him. …

Job 42:2: “I know that you can do all things and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
So, without an iota of doubt, the Bible explained the concept of faith using different stories and explanation.

Everyone recognizes that to rely upon "faith" to decide specific questions of historical fact is ridiculous—that is, until the conversation turns to the origin of books like the Bible and the Koran, to the resurrection of Jesus, to Muhammad's conversation with the archangel Gabriel, or to any other religious dogma. It is time that we admitted that faith is nothing more than the license religious people give one another to keep believing when reasons fail.
While believing strongly, without evidence, is considered a mark of madness or stupidity in any other area of our lives, faith in God still holds immense prestige in our society.

Religion is the one area of our discourse where it is considered noble to pretend to be certain about things no human being could possibly be certain about. It is telling that this aura of nobility extends only to those faiths that still have many subscribers. Anyone caught worshipping Poseidon, even at sea, will be thought insane.

Good. Only if we can go beyond preaching and preaching the WORD to practising the dictates, we won't have a troubled world.

the christian faith is a living one, no wonder bishop oyedepo called it living faith. yes we all have equal and perfect faith of Christ but without [acting on our own ] faith it is impossible to please God. Hebrew 11:6

dictionary definition of faith:
1. complete trust or confidence in someone or
something.
2. strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a
religion, based on spiritual apprehension
rather than proof.

the faith above comes by hearing the word of God. you can hear it by studying the scripture and speaking it out loud to yourself. with faith you can do anything, you can even hear Gods voice/gist with Him. faith is only a means to an end

It is dear and he is faithful with his words.

All he needs from you is the thinnest bit of faith and you'll see the wonders of his words in your life.

that's not faith its called being religious, faith is not what people tell you to believe because it has been there for ages or because that's how they have been doing it from day one. faith is what you believe in.
the things of God don't make sense, they make spirit.

The bible is a human construct, full of the fears and prejudices of the various authors and writers of the different books that make up the collection.
It has some inspiring parts, but by and large, it is contradictory and shows the state of knowledge of those who wrote it.
It was written in times of ignorance, when man wanted explanations for things not understood.
It has encouraged slavery, racism, the suppression of women, wars, homophobia and other kinds of evils.
It promotes ignorance, greed and a do nothing culture in the hope that god would come to the rescue.
It is further abused by pastors, bishops, GOs and whatever fancy titles those conmen want to give themselves.
The definitions of faith in the bible suggest that knowledge is not important. It is false, and in part, responsible, together with other so-called holy books, for the dire state mankind finds itself in today.
