What is the minimum wage of those countries, are they producing crude oil. Very stupid comparison.
even leave minimum wage aside.
They are converting the sales of petrol in other countries at the rate of Nigeria naira. That is wicked.

If we want to go about it like that, why dont calculate it how much ghana are buying petrol at the rate of cedis.

Naira to dollar is 1600 and ghana cedis to odllar is less than 10 cedis, wjo is paying more

Nigeria’s petrol price should naturally be lower than any nation that’s not producing crude.
but not 55% of neighbours.

This statement is a strategy to high the price in no distant time.

Nigerians are in all round trouble, i see no help coming from anywhere for the masses.
Deceptive statements why didn't he mention South or Northern African which are major crude oil producing nations, Angola, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia, South Sudan and South Africa that are not major player. This is their antics not to take down fuel price to #500 per litre

AI summary:

Here's a simple summary of the article:

🛢️ What Dangote Said:

Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, says the price of petrol in Nigeria is 55% cheaper than in other West African countries, thanks to his Dangote Refinery.

🏭 Why This Matters:

Dangote’s refinery, located in Lagos, started producing fuel in 2024.

It reduces Nigeria’s need to import fuel, which used to be expensive and caused fuel shortages.

With local refining, petrol prices have dropped significantly.

💬 Dangote’s Point:

He emphasized that Nigeria now has cheaper petrol because it produces its own through his refinery — while other West African countries still import fuel at higher costs.

💡 In Simple Terms:

Thanks to the new refinery, petrol is now much cheaper in Nigeria compared to neighboring countries. This helps reduce costs for Nigerians and improves fuel availability.
Those countries in western Africa are not major oil producing nations why is he not mentioning Northern and southern Africa, likes of Angola, Libya, Algeria, Egypt, south Sudan, South Africa what's the amount they pay per litre of fuel

After he has successfully pushed his only competitors out, it's time to regulate the price by himself. Dangote is f*cking monopolistic.

Please baba no bring dat one come yet o.

We know you are making efforts to continually bring down the price of petrol and we hope to see more of that. We appreciate you for what you have been doing and we are taking note quietly as this has brought stability across many sectors of the economy.

One of the worst things that can happen to Nigeria right now will be an uptick in the price of petrol.

Dangote isn't tinubu. He's just analysing. Even at the time they claimed he'd increase pump price after naira for crude was suspended by NNPCL, he didn't do that rather, he crashed it. He said be may be selling in dollars and people misquoted him. Dangote is a compassionate businessman, unlike some people whose names I won't mention.

This isn't going to sleep a wink until he gets the monopoly he craves over petrol pricing in Nigeria. It should be clear already that most likely he was promised a monopoly before he entered this business. The way he's been moaning, I'm not sure he would have built a refinery knowing that it wasn't going to be a monopoly.

Tbh, i dont understand why this people feign mischief, how can an elite use naira rate to posit PMS is more expensive outside

$ is # 1600 thats to Nigeria, what is the xchange rate in ghana, it is only valid to use Mali xchange rate to justapost high pms price

Besides Dangote comparism should be Nigeria with oil producing africa nations that have refinery to juxtapose "cheap"

how much is pms in togo and whats minimum wage, #70k fuel can't full my tank undecided and someone is talking "cheap"

Antics or no Antics, whether fuel price can come down to 500 or not is not in Dangote hands ... Na xchange rate fit decide that one

if we wake up tomorrow and xchange rate is $/ 700 .. Fuel price will crash to maybe 500, dangote cant even stop it.

our xchange rate is the Main factor

It's exchange rate wahala.
The naira is performing poorly against other West African currencies.

Factors to be considered
1. We have much higher population
2. We have the raw product but Tinubu policies probably making it difficult for Dangote to buy
3.

There seems to be relentless justification for fuel price hikes, always at the expense of Nigerians. Why is it considered unacceptable for citizens to benefit from their own government?

We are the richest in oil in west Africa, so what are you saying?

Re: Nigeria’s Petrol Price 55% Below West African Average – Dangote by dederocs(m): 8:59am On Jun 02, 2025
We have crude oil, this is a natural gift from God for all Nigerians to enjoy, stop comparing us to people who don't have Brent crude.

Reduce the price don't be greedy.

I wonder o...

If not for useless government over the years.

Some eediots will quote me and start saying one government was better than another one, but in my opinion, any government in this country that does not even know their focus is to make the country a true "oil producing" country is a waste. That is supposed to be our major source of earning.

The orher byproducts of crude that no one is talking about are sources of wealth that every successive government has silently eaten. So wetin any eediot wan dey tell us?

Abegi..

Always comparing price never income, electricity, strength of currency or standard of living.

It's always the cost they compare to other countries 🙄🙄
..abi..do not mind him..naira depreciating and losing value against the dollars everyday, high costs of living, bad economy, low purchasing power of Nigerians, inflation everywhere, high rate of unemployment and he is comparing it with countries that their economy and country is good... quite unfortunate

Aliko Dangote like APC is one of the problems we have in Nigeria for saying that.
Did he consider standard of living across African countries? Is he aware that $1 today is just 10 GHANA cides? Will Nigerians be complaining if they are buying fuel #100?
Re: Nigeria’s Petrol Price 55% Below West African Average – Dangote by ufotunang: 9:38am On Jun 02, 2025
fuel was 180 naira before so Nigerians want it at that price not 815 naira..a country with abundant crude oil and producing crude oil should not have or sell fuel at a high costs

Not really.
But you cannot compare price of petrol of one country to another without remembering to compare the basic income.
And yes, the minimum wage in a country is a yardstick for measuring basic income.
Or do you think everyone in Nigeria is a thief that spends way beyond their income?

If you have problems with the current process of petrol, apply for license to import petrol and You are free to sell at N200 per litre. Nobody will arrest you in fact everybody in Nigeria will buy from you and turn you into an instant billionaire.

olaeffect:
Yes, that is actually why Nigeria is the way it is.
I am talking about each and every Nigerian earning a reasonable pay just like we are expected to pay a reasonable price for petroleum and you are here advising me to acquire license to import petroleum to a country that one of the highest producers of crude oil.
And you feel you are making sense.
With citizens with your kind of mentality, the hope of Nigeria not remaining permanently backward is very slim.
How much is a reasonable price for petrol?
