Reno Omokri Lied About Driving 30 KM On Coastal Road (VIDEO EVIDENCE) by DesChyko(op):
On June 4, Reno Omokri refuted claims that the completed portion of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is less than 30 kilometres, stating they personally visited and confirmed its length. He emphasized that prominent figures like Wole Soyinka, Aliko Dangote, Abdulsamad Rabiu, Tony Elumelu, and even opposition governors were also present, implying the legitimacy. He also claimed to have taken a picture at the 30KM mark.

However, it appeared he had dragged the prominent figures into an unwarranted lie as ObjecTV Media, a fact-finding media outfit, visited the project and shared an explanatory video at the 30KM mark made by the contractors. It turned out to be, that Reno was caught in a bare-faced lie. This video shared details of an investigation done on June 6, two whole days after Reno's claim.

The video exposed the uncompleted nature of vast ranges around this mark as far as the eyes could see. The narrator also shared untouched swathes of land across the road stretch, as proof that the road is far from being ready at 30KM; dismissing claims to that effect as mere propaganda. Reno was also challenged to produce the video supporting his claim of the road being completed at the 30 KM mark. The narrator suggested that Reno may not have been able to tell the difference between speed limit and actual road measurement.

30km Of Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway To Be Ready By May – Umahi

The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has expressed satisfaction with the level of work on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, saying that 30 kilometres of the road will be made available for President Bola Tinubu to inaugurate by May 25, 2025.

The Minister, who disclosed this on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, is also delighted with the quality of work done by the contractor so far, jokingly comparing it with the streets of heaven.

Work on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway
“The beginning of section one, as at today, about 15 kilometres by two carriage way on the average has been achieved, and at the end of the project at Eleko where section one stopped, about 5 kilometres has been achieved.

“So, the idea is by 25th of May 30 Kilometres continuously will be made available for Mr President to Commission from the beginning of section one down to kilometre 0 to 20,” Umahi said.

The section one of the highway according to the Minister runs from Victoria Island down to Lekki Seaport in Eleko area of Lagos State. He noted that about 17 kilometres will be jumped because of settlements.

Immediate tolling
Umahi said that he would be recommending to President Tinubu, that the first section of the road which he said will be completed by the end of this year, be tolled.

He said that the President sees the project more as an investment than as a legacy project, adding that the President is no longer focused on legacy initiatives.

According to him, the return on investment for the project will be very high which will benefit the Nigerian economy on the long run.

“When that is completed, I will be for immediate tolling engagement,” the Minister said.

Project transparent enough
The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is one of the major projects started by the Tinubu administration on assumption of office, but the project has attracted criticisms from many Nigerians, especially the opposition figures.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, who was the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in 2023, and the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, both slammed the award of the contract, saying that it shrouded in secrecy.

Recently, former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, also criticized the Lagos-Calabar Highway, labelling the N15.6 trillion project “wastful.”

Obasanjo shared this view in his new book “Nigeria: Past and Future,” which was released during his 88th birthday celebration last month.

But Umahi defended President Tinubu, maintaining the handling of the project has been transparent enough.

“The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu never recommended any contractor to me, never sent any contractor to me, never interfered in terms of the costing,” the Minister said.

He said that Obasanjo has always praised him when he was governor of Ebonyi for his transparency, adding the former President cannot say otherwise of him now.

Reno also known by his infamous alias Wendell Simlin (remember that amateurish, now-legendary attempt to smear political opponents with a planted document?), continues to offer the nation a masterclass in shameless reinvention. He parades himself as a “pastor” at the Mind of Christ Christian Center. One can’t help but wonder if the “mind” in question is less of Christ and more of a malfunctioning chatbot stuck in a loop of hypocrisy and hot takes.

In Reno’s world, convictions come with expiry dates, and principles are optional accessories. He is the self-appointed oracle of moral instruction on Twitter, spewing sanctimonious sermons by day, and by night, recalibrating his loyalty to whoever holds the reins of power or is most likely to retweet him.

Perhaps the most galling of his political pirouettes is his transformation from Bola Tinubu’s most vocal accuser to his most laughable cheerleader. Once upon a time, Reno screeched endlessly about Tinubu’s alleged criminal past, labeling him a “drug baron,” fueling hashtags, and even organizing protests with the gusto of a man on a divine mission. Fast forward to today, and Reno now waxes lyrical about Tinubu’s "wisdom" and "vision", sounding less like a critic and more like a sycophant auditioning for a political appointment.

To be fair, Tinubu deserves some credit; he clearly understands the fragile egos and shallow motivations of Nigerian political influencers. He knows that men like Reno aren’t driven by ideology or integrity, but by a crippling hunger for relevance, attention, and maybe a seat at the table.

What Omokri represents is not rare but his particular brand of sanctimony wrapped in opportunism, laced with false humility and broadcast with a ring light, is uniquely revolting. He is not a voice of conscience; he is a weather vane, turning wherever the political wind promises the most likes and retweets.

So next time Reno opens his mouth or logs into his favorite sermon-on-the-go platform, remember: this is a man who has built a career not on truth, but on tactical amnesia and moral gymnastics.
