Lol...i posted the price in one of my replies 8its 42 cents. While the price for a barrel is between $62-$64 depending on the type of crude.

Need I remind you that the lower the price of crude oil, the lower should be the price of petroleum products. So if a barrel of crude is about $64 not $100 (or above) as it used to be a couple of years ago, why does fuel keep rise?

Tutor me I'm all ears.
Let take it one step at a time.

Now that you have done your calculations and estimates. You have refused to do the final one.

Please convert 42cent to naira and report back here.

Sorry oga no vex. But this is how you end up misleading yourself and a lot of people.

How on earth can 42 cent be 194 abΓ how much you call am sef?

To convert $0.42 (42 cents) to Nigerian Naira (₦):

Step-by-step:

Exchange rate: $1 β‰ˆ ₦1,620 (black market rate as of June 7, 2025)

Conversion:

0.42 \times 1,620 = ₦680.40

Final Answer:

$0.42 = ₦680.40

If you think this conversion is wrong may be I won't be able to help

Lol...you're the one misleading people by using mathematics to do exchange rate. This your reply shows that you know nothing about how the Nigerian exchange rate system works.

Let me enlighten you on it, are you aware that someone with $100 single note and someone with $20 in 5 places wouldn't get the same exchange rate despite both of them being $100?

Also someone with 100 pieces of $1 and 5 pieces of $20 wouldn't get the same exchange rate despite both of them being $100?

Are you also aware that Dangote doesn't use the same exchange rate you use? The rate CBN uses to sell dollar to him is totally different from the official rate. So the black market rate you quoted is a far cry from what he's given.

Also the high dollar rates which is one of the major causes of high fuel prices, was caused by Tinubu's visionless policies.

So I don't know what you're defending. The oil cabals are raking in billions of naira daily, you that is sitting in your home without any connection to any of these people whatsoever is defending them. Affordable fuel which is the only thing you can actually benefit from the government is what you're kicking against and defending people getting fat from looting you dry.

You my friend have a serious problem.

There's no state in Nigeria where imported rice is selling for 122k. You can presently get a 50kg bag of rice for 60k in Lagos.
Could you please come to delta state?

Please explain how you get your own conversion. After that you must provide a verifiable tools that convert or support the way you converted.

You won't learn bro.

It doesn't make sense to be arguing blindly. Ask others, use Google to do the conversion instead of your poor arithmetic reasoning.

Official rate for dollar is still around 1600 naira. So what's is your point.

I think you also say 158 liters of crude oil will produce how many litters of refined oil.

I hope I am not wasting my time by engaging you?

Have you ever changed dollar using a mallam who operates a bureau de change outlet? If no, I have nothing more to say on this matter. Cos sitting in your house and typing what you see on Google is totally different from people's experiences in real life.

olaolaking:

No you're the one arguing blindly. Cos you're using Google rather than real life experiences.

Just walk into any mallam with a single $100 and 5 pieces of $20. If you're given 161k for the single $100, you'll be given 140+k for the 5 pieces of $20 which is also $100. Google wouldn't tell you that, it's only when you've experienced it personally that you'll understand what I'm saying. So your logic about the official rate is totally flawed. Cos rates fluctuate and like I said, Google wouldn't tell you that.

olaolaking:

My point is that Dangote who is the center of this discussion cos of the high fuel prices buys dollar from CBN at a rate which is lower than the official rate. So your calculations about the value of 42 cents in Naira is also flawed as well. Cos you're using the black market rate to defend someone who buys lower than that.

olaolaking:

I said a standard barrel of crude oil (159 liters) yields about 170 liters of refined products. I knew this from a marketer who used to supply fuel from a tank farm to one of the AP (now Forte oil) stations in Lagos years back.

If you have no experience about something, stop arguing blindly.

You lie so much. I may end up opening a thread with the images of your argument attached. At least others can help us with the conversion. Please be humble for once especially when necessary.

What conversion do you need when you've never seen a dollar bill in your entire life. I gave you a simple assignment to carry out at any bureau de change outlet closest to you and get real time results you're here talking about conversation. You must really be a talkative in real life.

Since we've resorted to using Google let me expose your ignorance here.

And for the records you're the one who's sounding like a 20 year old boy. You're ignorant of real life happenings around you but keep arguing blindly.

This is not true. There 3 classes of crude oil. They class them based on yield. The best one can get in a litter of crude oil is about 50% pms. While about 40% will go to byproducts. Close to 10% is lost to evaporation and others.

Lol...you're a case. You went to Google, ignored all the correct measurements there and clicked on the link of Nairaland Google brought out as your defence. I've added the Nairaland link you copied from google without verifying if it's correct.

Secondly didn't you see in one of my replies where I acknowledged that there are different types of crude?

See I'm done arguing with you cos like I said earlier, you're just going around in circles.

As for your thread, I'm not jobless so I won't waste my productive time arguing with you there. I've got much better things to do with my time. Good night.
