When minimum wage is increased to 1 million naira per month. In the club everybody will be buying drinks for everybody.
Your one million minimum wage will look like 5,000 in your hand

In fact, I'm begging for Abacha regime to come back, ( if possible) since it can't, let any military govt. I have since realised that, yesteryears freedom fighters, were fighting then, just to grab power, and not that, they like masses as they made us realized then.
Typical Igbos...Asiwaju o ni ku.

Nigerians jubilated more than this on hearing the news of Abacha's death.

Decades later, same Abacha's evil government is far better than Tinubu's government.
I won't forget that day Abacha died...it was as if Nigeria won the world cup plus nations cup grin

Sadly we are far worst economically than under the evil dictator.

Some time I laughed when they compare abacha term with this.is it because of hatred or an act of ignorance, newspapers archive are there for references.pry and secondary school teachers were on strike, people were cooking with sawdust, activist were killed and people can't gather in 5 to discuss.
where in nigeria were groups of 5 unable to discuss?

what was the reason for nigerians cooking with sawdust?

why were primary and secondary school teachers on strike?

for how long was this strike?

you are right their fight for democracy was for themselves, when they tell you don't let democracy die, it means don't let us loose power, fight for our interest
So it's all about but they make it look its to the advantage of the people ,that's grand deceit

.......life far far far better then, apart from, "today power grabbers" which junta was pursuing up and down then......if you are taken responsibilities today, you would understand the difference.

I also biliv you know, technology revolution never took place then,.......if military still in power, people won't use saw dust again, after all, people even going back to firewood, after 2 decades they left it.
You def don't know what you're talking about about.

Can you trek the distance of Apapa to Maryland because transporters don't have fuel and has gone on strike and the few cab or bus increased fare to an amount you can't even afford.

Can you construct cooking metal for saw dust so that you can cook food. You go know say preparing firewood for cooking is easier than sawdust for cooking.

Can your children stay at home for months because teachers are owed salaries or have been paid half salaries for more than 2 years.

And many more rubbish that the era of democracy has made me forget.

Then calling for Abacha regime or any military to take over is tantamount to directly wishing Nigerians dead.

Please its no joke

I wonder what is wrong with you people. Same Abacha that my mum, a primary school teacher went unpaid for almost 18 months. University lecturers were on strike for almost two years. We went hungry for many nights. You guys are completely delusional. I got admision to a school in canada then...when I saw the school fees, I laughed in Swahili. Where would I get such? Nowadays, even poor people are raising money to school in UK.

When I hear you guys say those days were better, it makes me realise you guys just want an Igbo president. You dont care wether Nigeria moves forward or not...you are just fixated on your narrow ambition of an Igbo president.

Pounds was around 20 naira but no one could afford school fees abroad. Salaries of teachers were less than a thousand naira too. Most households did not even have common video set.

You are truly delusional

1 British Pound is not more than #1 naira yet, the minimum wage is not lesser than what we have now.

Say after me, "I AM A CLOWN".

For your education, salaries were less than 1000 naira for most people . Doctors were earning around 9k per month. It was Obasanjo that first increased the salary of doctors to around 30k per month.

Dollar was around 18 naira.

When we prevail bandits, terrorist
Terrorism and banditry in the north is simply because of the illegal mining going on there,
Funded and provided for by mining giants across the globe using third party local/foreign contractors doing all the dirty work.
A lot of weapons in the hands of riff-raffs,of course they'd deviate from the course a bit to cause mayhem to those they view as enemies.
The solution?Simple.
I'd offer a direct mining 30year deal to all these giant mining corporations where I'd take just 20% of the proceeds and they keep 80%.
With this arrangement, I've ended Terrorism and banditry without lifting a finger.
Funding to terrorist stop, then of course foreign corp will bring in mercenaries to teach those rifle totting illiterates a lesson they'd never forget in a hurry,I mean pure armagedon to them and their supporters, without me being blamed by these same global "peacekeepers" for Terrorism and crimes against humanity.
After wiping out the bastards,I'd use the 30 year window for the contract I won't renew and it's proceeds to educate,Polish and train the people of those communities and take away from the recruiting force of any future insurgency. In essence ,build capacity in them.
I've saved money I'd have spent on a corrupt/bias amd ineffective military to quash the terrorists and also made money I've never made from the mining ,even though it's a meagre 20% and have also built human capacity.
Then after 30yrs,I tear the agreement.checkmate.

Whether it's a hopeful dream or a declaration of faith, the mere possibility of such an outcome would spark widespread jubilation and celebration across the nation. Though it may seem daunting and improbable, there's no harm in envisioning a brighter future – after all, imagination is free.

I find the call for the return of Abacha regime amusing.

I want to believe that many of those who are wishing this were not even born when Abacha walked through this land.

If he was alive Nairaland would have been banned so you won't have this forum to vent and make noise.

This democracy is better by all means.

At least you can hide behind your keyboard to scream and insult people and still sleep on your bed tonight.
