Colonialists have Confused You.

That is why you are like that.
Why do you think the Colonialists succeeded in "Confusing You"?
Why can't you also go and "Confuse" them?

The Colonialists came with Superior Power, Superior Knowledge, Superior Quality of Life and an organised set of beliefs & Religion articulated in a holy book, the Bible.
That was what made it easy to "Confuse you"

So adopt same strategy if you want to sell this your ideology & belief system to "Confuse us" or to "Confuse others".

Mr Colonised head.

Benin City had streetlights and underground drainage 300 years before London.

According to the UK Guardian, ''With its mathematical layout and earthworks longer than the Great Wall of China, Benin City was one of the best planned cities in the world when London was a place of ‘thievery and murder’''

https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2016/mar/18/story-of-cities-5-benin-city-edo-nigeria-mighty-medieval-capital-lost-without-trace

The Guinness Book of Records (1974 edition) described the walls of Benin City and its surrounding kingdom as the world’s largest earthworks carried out prior to the mechanical era. According to estimates by the New Scientist’s Fred Pearce, Benin City’s walls were at one point “four times longer than the Great Wall of China, and consumed a hundred times more material than the Great Pyramid of Cheops in Egypt”.

Benin City, 1846, Drawing by British visitor, Mary Evans.
This was 50 years before the British invasion of Benin in 1897.
As you can see, it's a highly civilised, sophisticated metropolis with grandiose architecture.

https://i.pinimg.com/736x/ef/5c/89/ef5c89fe551d9ca5a70b9b284342ce83.jpg

When the Portuguese first “discovered” the city in 1485, they were stunned to find this vast kingdom made of hundreds of interlocked cities and villages in the middle of the African jungle. They called it the “Great City of Benin”..... Indeed, they classified Benin City as one of the most beautiful and best planned cities in the world.

In 1691, the Portuguese ship captain Lourenco Pinto observed: “Great Benin, where the king resides, is larger than Lisbon; all the streets run straight and as far as the eye can see. The houses are large, especially that of the king, which is richly decorated and has fine columns. The city is wealthy and industrious. It is so well governed that theft is unknown and the people live in such security that they have no doors to their houses.”

...............

Now, Mr 'Oyinbo is my saviour', Read that last line again.

I'll repeat it for you:

''The city is wealthy and industrious. It is so well governed that theft is unknown and the people live in such security that they have no doors to their houses.''

Now tell me something.

Which part of Nigeria or Africa or even The Entire World can you make that statement about today with a straight face?

Even the Vatican has front doors. It's a sovereign territory too!

So how far? Mr Oyinbo civilised me?

Today you need a massive gate with barbed wire surrounding you to feel safe. Plus iron bars on your windows, even after you've surrounded yourself with that massive fence.

Now let me tell you something. The Only reason Britain conquered your ancestors, stole their land, looted the resources for a century, while forcing christianity and English on them, was the same reason they conquered India, parts of China, the Americas, Australia, Mexico etc etc - Their possession of Firearms.

That was the Only advantage they had over the whole world, not just Africa.

In a world that used iron weapons for thousands of years, in a form of detente guaranteeing a balance of power, their greed for the world's resources led them to break that convention and mass produce firearms using stolen Chinese native gunpowder mixtures which the Chinese were using for fireworks at festivals.

The rest is history.

Everything they forced on you, from the English you speak to the bible you carry on your head, came as a result of their possession of firearms. Weapons of mass destruction.

But truth can never be derived from genocide, theft and intimidation.

Which is why you are living a lie.

Remember to lock your gates..

Kemetian,

Your objective of creating this thread is to convince Nigerians to jettison Christianity, Islam & other foreign religions and embrace Traditional Religion.

Do you really think what you have posted so far has done justice to that objective?

I'm not here for unnecessary arguments.
Instead of posting irrelevant stuff, go back to my initial comment, if you are really serious about achieving your set objective.

The Guardian UK continues:

''Benin City’s planning and design was done according to careful rules of symmetry, proportionality and repetition now known as fractal design. The mathematician Ron Eglash, author of African Fractals – which examines the patterns underpinning architecture, art and design in many parts of Africa – notes that the city and its surrounding villages were purposely laid out to form perfect fractals, with similar shapes repeated in the rooms of each house, and the house itself, and the clusters of houses in the village in mathematically predictable patterns.

As he puts it: “When Europeans first came to Africa, they considered the architecture very disorganised and thus primitive. It never occurred to them that the Africans might have been using a form of mathematics that they hadn’t even discovered yet.”

https://i.pinimg.com/736x/e7/05/9e/e7059ec66278a74a25b2e909c3624fc7.jpg

At the centre of the city stood the king’s court, from which extended 30 very straight, broad streets, each about 120-ft wide. These main streets, which ran at right angles to each other, had underground drainage made of a sunken impluvium with an outlet to carry away storm water. Many narrower side and intersecting streets extended off them.

“Houses are built alongside the streets in good order, the one close to the other,” writes the 17th-century Dutch visitor Olfert Dapper. “Adorned with gables and steps … they are usually broad with long galleries inside, especially so in the case of the houses of the nobility, and divided into many rooms which are separated by walls made of red clay, very well erected.”

Dapper adds that wealthy residents kept these walls “as shiny and smooth by washing and rubbing as any wall in Holland can be made with chalk, and they are like mirrors. The upper storeys are made of the same sort of clay. Moreover, every house is provided with a well for the supply of fresh water”.

The early foreign explorers’ descriptions of Benin City portrayed it as a place free of crime and hunger, with large streets and houses kept clean; a city filled with courteous, honest people, and run by a centralised and highly sophisticated bureaucracy.

They're all the same as far as I'm concerned. They gain people through conquest and intimidation.

Even their religions are based on threats, intolerance and intimidation (If you don't believe in our 'saviour' you will roast in an eternal furnace. Every religion except ours is demonic).

The black man has always been a corrupt character , their entire history is filled with them oppressing other tribes and kidnapping and enslaving other tribes and being mean to lower elements of their society, stop making it seem like the black man was some upright creatures before he met the white man , Human sacrifice was everywhere , drums where made out of human skins , the elites enslaved the lower members of their society extorting them at will ..Till today you have not changed , killing yourselves , selling yourselves from Ibadan to Libya , extorting yourselves from Iyanaoworo to Congo , that's just who you are

Your colonial-invented claims are easily debunked by the testimony of History.

The ancient black Africans were called 'Ethiopians', and here is the account of who they were:

1. Homer – The Iliad, Book 1, lines 423–425
“Zeus had gone yesterday to the blameless Ethiopians, at the ocean, to a feast, and all the gods followed.”
— Homer, Iliad

🧠 Context: The gods travel to the Ethiopians to dine — they are not enemies, but honored as sacred, just, and hospitable.

2. Homer – The Odyssey, Book 1, line 22
“The gods went to visit the Ethiopians, who live farthest away, the most just of men, divided into two — some where the sun sets, others where it rises.”
— Homer, Odyssey

🧠 Meaning: Homer calls the Ethiopians the most just people on earth — east and west — placing them at both spiritual and geographical extremes.

3. Herodotus – Histories, Book 3.20–22
“The Ethiopians are said to be the ...most beautiful of all men, and they have customs quite different from those of other nations. Their laws are said to be given by a king who is just and wise... They eat boiled meat, drink milk, and live the longest of any people.”

🧠 Context: Herodotus saw the Ethiopians (likely Nubians) as a model of beauty, health, and justice — linked to moral excellence.

4. Diodorus Siculus – Library of History, Book 3, 2nd century BCE
“The Ethiopians were the first of all men... The gods, too, were born among them... They have never been conquered, and they are the most pious and righteous of men.”
— Diodorus Siculus

🧠 Deep cut: This ties moral uprightness to spiritual origin — a key Afrocentric point.

5. Strabo – Geography, Book 17.2
“The Ethiopians are reported to be wise, gentle, and truthful, and to live according to the laws of Maat.”
(Paraphrased based on multiple classical interpretations)

🌍 Quotes on Ancient African Morality, Ethics & Maat
6. Dr. John Henrik Clarke
“Before Europe had a written language, Africans were living by a moral code that honored truth, justice, and reciprocity. The African did not need a god of fear — his law was Maat.”
— Dr. John Henrik Clarke

7. Cheikh Anta Diop – The African Origin of Civilization
“Egyptian civilization was a moral theocracy... centered on Maat — the principle of truth, order, and cosmic balance — not fear of punishment.”
— Cheikh Anta Diop

8. The Principle of Maat (Ancient Egypt)
“I have not committed sin. I have not stolen. I have not slain men and women. I have not uttered lies. I have not defiled the wife of any man.”
— From the “Negative Confessions” in the Book of the Dead

🧠 Note: These confessions are not fear-based — they’re ethical affirmations of harmony with the cosmos and community.

9. Theophile Obenga
“Africa’s traditional ethical systems did not separate morality from divinity. The ancestors were the living conscience. To do wrong was not just a sin, it was to disrupt the community’s harmony.”
— Theophile Obenga

10. Ptahhotep – 24th Century BCE (Kemetic Moral Philosophy)
“Do not be arrogant because of your knowledge. Consult with the ignorant and the wise... A good word is more hidden than a precious stone.”
— The Teachings of Ptahhotep

11. Ancient Nubian Teaching (From Meroë inscriptions)
“The strong is not the one who conquers, but the one who brings peace to the land.”
(Traditional proverb from Nubian inscriptions)

.................

So History tells us that pre-colonial Africa was honoured globally as a land of peace, righteousness, prosperity and morality.

What is Traditional Religion?
Who is the God or gods of Traditional Religion?
What are the Doctrines, Beliefs, Practices, Ordinances?
What are the spiritual values, eternal promises & benefits?
...

All these and many more have to be articulated, packaged & documented in a holy book or scripture before you can evangelise & hope to win converts.

OK…. Thoughtful post. And you are not the first to raise the issue of textual codification or standardisation of tenets, with regard to African spirituality.

But the argument of traditionalists is that no tenet is permanent. Everything is subject to change depending on evolving circumstances.

Even evolving moralities!

African religion is too sophisticated to have a Book that says “this is what you must do and that is what you should not do…”.

Because what makes sense today will not make sense tomorrow, as humanity evolves.

It’s only when you wish to Control people, and Restrict them, that you create a “holy book”, and claim it was “inspired by God”. 😂

African spirituality is not about control. It’s about freedom.

The central truth is that we are immortal beings or souls who are here for a while and then return to our real home - the Land of the ancestors. Which you people call ‘heaven’.

That’s why we celebrate and have a party when an elder passes on. He’s returning home.

God exists. He also has helpers, the so-called deities or gods - spiritual forces acting on his behalf to help mankind.

Depending on your choice and needs you can approach God direct, or through a deity.

You can also choose not to follow a deity or do anything religious at all. No punishment. No hellfire. No ‘devil’ exists.

Then we have the 42 laws of Maat, similar to the Ifa Laws, and from where the Ten Commandments were derived.

“I have not stolen, I have not committed murder, I have not harmed the Earth… “, etc etc.

Finish.

What else is there to write in a book apart from lies? 😆

oh I see your problem,religion.
You think religion matters lol,all religion are male made and false.
Religion Africans practice are better off though cause it’s paired with culture and tradition, and that was better suited most African communities that’s why back then, bad stuffs were low to zero

That's not what is responsible for the ravaging Greed. The Overwhelming Greed across Africa is lack of proper prioritization.
Like in GHANA, they prioritize Burial over one's wellbeing when alive.
Generally, black Africans invest heavily in funerals than good health.

An African is quick to laugh at a Professor who rides a bicycle to school to lecture, in same vein also quick to hail a politician or pastor who owns a private jet.

Nothing on Earth is permanent, Mr Man.

All human civilisations rise, reach a peak, and than start to decline. Another takes over, on and on till it gets back to you again.

The Europe you are worshipping today was for thousands of years the poorest and most backward part of the world.

India and Pakistan was once extremely wealthy and prosperous, but today it’s a different story.

But go there in 50 to 100 years’ time and they could be the most advanced region on Earth.

So nothing stays the same.

And just because you are down today does not mean you are “inferior” to other races or people anymore than they were “inferior” to you when you ruled over them, as the Moors did between the 8th and 15th century. 800+ years.

If they are superior beings you shouldn’t have been able to rule them for even 1 year.
