DesChyko:Congrats...you are among the 30% of taxable Nigerians who pay tax. Majority don't. That is why we can't have good things. ![]() Get it? Also, our economy relies mostly on selling oil and sharing the money. Less than 20% of government revenue cometh from taxes. |

hush15: ![]() You don't get it, and you never will. If you think that most Nigerians pay tax, think again. And if you think that all those taxes are enough, think again. ![]() |

nairalanda1:It's more than enough. The onus is government to stop being frivolous and bogus in their spending. Calling project of 10k, 10million and stealing 9mil 990k. |

Menclothing1:That's the thing...people don't get it. They will come and tell you they 'pay all them taxes'...when they don't realize that in addition to what you have said, they are part of the minority that pays taxes to the federal and state government And they don't want to hold leaders to account, they want to vote in their side into power, and continue chopping, economic development be dammed. True for APC, PDP and even LP /OBIDIENT supporters. |

hush15:Please don't make me laugh. It is not enough. And stop distracting by mentioning 'they stole money' Yes, they stole. I am not denying it...but that is not the problem Our budget...the basis of most state funds, is funded 80% by crude oil, and 20% by taxes. Less than 30% of Nigerians pay tax to federal and state governments. So, don't tell me it is enough. Also, we don't run a diversified economy. We dey think we are like Qatar...that produces more than 1.8m bpd and has 1.1 million people. We with our 230 million and 1.7 million bpd. And before you quote me to accuse me of defending stealing...oga, that is why all thieves do not deserve to be forgiven. They are stealing from a very poorly funded treasury. |

nairalanda1:are you saying Lagos State is not taxing enough?, when it comes to multiple taxation give it to Lagos State,I know how civil servants are heavily taxed in Lagos as well as non civil servants,no State in Nigeria tax as much as Lagos. |

[quote author=BenedictAbajue post=135741358]Why do I feel like they need to do better [/quotDefinitely! However, I would like to know the one your own governor has done. I can bet your state doesn’t have any. |

Yong4ever:Yeah, and most Lagosians do not pay tax either. Also, the GDP of nigeria per capita is very low, even with that. That is why I keep screaming that we need a leader who will make us develop a higher GDP by ...manufacturing and exporting manufactured goods and services. You want better , you pay for better. |

LASAMBUS aren't really working as they claim here. I have their number on several occasions, they mostly pick up but never take actions. Whenever I see a body on the floor either dead or alive, I always call their toll-free line 112 to give location and describe the situation but nothing really happens thereafter. I do not want to believe they are working... |

| Re: Lagos State Ambulance Service Responds To 44,152 Calls In 4 Years by hush15: 2:20pm On Jun 14, 2025 |
nairalanda1:Let's not even go to the direction you goin cos even at that level too, government wasteful spending with what they claim to generate is appalling. We still talking internal generated revenue of Lagos State. Lagos generates enough revenue to sustain the state. Ofcourse, if governance is genuine and not wasteful, they would generate more cos people won't be hiding from paying tax. I believe with transparency, tax revenue would increase but some people can't be using state revenue to exalt their party and political sentiments and those generating it will be yearning for them to come for more.... You do less that one kilometer road, na billions. If you like, generate all the billions of heaven, the way they spend money uselessly by Nigerian government, it can never be enough |

nairalanda1:They don't understand what it takes to run a country with over 250m population. Nigeria not in top10 producing states in the world. Still price of fuel still fair . |
| Re: Lagos State Ambulance Service Responds To 44,152 Calls In 4 Years by Fearurcreeator: 3:14pm On Jun 14, 2025 |
hush15:Lagos makes nothing enough to drive that population. Check what amount mega cities in the world generate. For Lagos to pull what they are still doing dey shock me . MIT in US alone share almost same annual budget like Lagos. Do you know what that means, whats the population of the students there compared to Lagos. Check top states there too their budget like x30 to x50 of lagos despite having lesser population to lagos. Be realistic. Lagos needs nothing less that $30b annual budget to strive well . Nigeria needs nothing less than $400b ... Its money that runs these countries you love . Big bucks people will earn well |

Fearurcreeator:I laugh... when Lagos start making those figures you mentioned, you will still say what you are saying, "Not enough" because, the wasteful spending won't stop, the bogus project won't stop, the siphoning won't stop. The population would still increase. Misplaced priorities would continue, political nonsense would still continue... That been the case, when will it be enough... |

Fearurcreeator:My point is whatever is made even now is okay to still do many things as long government get their priorities right. The solution to Nigeria's many problem is honesty and transparency. You will be surprised with the results. Ofcourse, revenues can be better but what we have today can go along way if spent right. |

nairalanda1:My point is simple.. Paying more tax to an irresponsible leadership is waste of time and simply useless. Whether you pay more or higher amount wont make citizens better off. So stop disturbing us with your tax theory. |
