Our budget...the basis of most state funds, is funded 80% by crude oil, and 20% by taxes. Less than 30% of Nigerians pay tax to federal and state governments.

Also, we don't run a diversified economy. We dey think we are like Qatar...that produces more than 1.8m bpd and has 1.1 million people. We with our 230 million and 1.7 million bpd.

And before you quote me to accuse me of defending stealing...oga, that is why all thieves do not deserve to be forgiven. They are stealing from a very poorly funded treasury.

Sanwo-Olu a whole Lagos has just 10 ambulances shame. Only in Nigeria you see people using Ambulances to carry coffin.

Yeah, and most Lagosians do not pay tax either.

Also, the GDP of nigeria per capita is very low, even with that. That is why I keep screaming that we need a leader who will make us develop a higher GDP by ...manufacturing and exporting manufactured goods and services.

LASAMBUS aren't really working as they claim here. I have their number on several occasions, they mostly pick up but never take actions. Whenever I see a body on the floor either dead or alive, I always call their toll-free line 112 to give location and describe the situation but nothing really happens thereafter.

We still talking internal generated revenue of Lagos State. Lagos generates enough revenue to sustain the state. Ofcourse, if governance is genuine and not wasteful, they would generate more cos people won't be hiding from paying tax. I believe with transparency, tax revenue would increase but some people can't be using state revenue to exalt their party and political sentiments and those generating it will be yearning for them to come for more....

You do less that one kilometer road, na billions. If you like, generate all the billions of heaven, the way they spend money uselessly by Nigerian government, it can never be enough

Lagos makes enough to fund and grow the state, even with the low tax net. So the real question is they should stop playing politics and give service void of politics and bureaucracy that breeds corruption.

Do you know what that means, whats the population of the students there compared to Lagos. Check top states there too their budget like x30 to x50 of lagos despite having lesser population to lagos. Be realistic. Lagos needs nothing less that $30b annual budget to strive well . Nigeria needs nothing less than $400b ... Its money that runs these countries you love . Big bucks people will earn well

I laugh... when Lagos start making those figures you mentioned, you will still say what you are saying, "Not enough" because, the wasteful spending won't stop, the bogus project won't stop, the siphoning won't stop. The population would still increase. Misplaced priorities would continue, political nonsense would still continue...

My point is whatever is made even now is okay to still do many things as long government get their priorities right. The solution to Nigeria's many problem is honesty and transparency. You will be surprised with the results. Ofcourse, revenues can be better but what we have today can go along way if spent right.
