Dr Ope Banwo led the Naija Lives Matter structure within the Obidients Movement. He developed an app for the movement. However he has had a few clashes with Obidients.

His first clash occured when he was asked to pay some money to join a Peter Obi Support Group and to collapse his Naija Lives Matter structure into the support group. He refused. That was in 2022.

His second clash occurred after the elections when he tweeted that the elections were over and he was going to reconcile with his friends that he argued with during the campaigns (he reconciled with Segalink). He said that everybody should move on since elections were over. Obidients attacked him for this message.

This present clash occurred because he has been away for Twitter for a while and he came back to see that Obidients were attacking Akin Olaoye (Akin Tollgate) and accusing him of being a mole. He condemned the attacks, but he was also attacked by Obidients.

THE HIJACK OF THE OBIDIENT MOVEMENT BY A FEW TRIBAL HATE MONGERS

- It is now clear that the once laudable Obidient Movement has now been hijacked by hate mongers, violence merchants and seditious hardliners.

Those who called it 2 years ago and people like me disagreed with are right now, even if they were not right then . They probably foresaw what the movement will become in the hands of hate filled tribalists who see nothing good in their country but only interested in destructive criticism 24/7.

I genuinely feel for the few decent people remaining in the Obidient movement who genuinely wish nigeria well, and who sincerely continue fight for progress through better leaders. I salute them and continue to respect them because fact remains that Nigeria does need an overhaul of its leadership in many areas .

Unfortunately I can no longer pretend that the Obidient movement has not become a Cult of Hate in the hands of the vocal and powerful minority. It has and what a shame

I have always believed that the Anger of youths is a GOOD thing since youthful anger often leads to progress in a country but what we are dealing with here is no longer just youth anger or legitimate dissatisfaction with the status quo but a situation where some tribalistic retards who think they can force, harangue and intimidate everyone to their own point of view now control the Obidient narrative .

Democracy does not work like that and you can’t force anyone to your point of view by being obnoxious, toxic, intimidating, abusive and generally being gross and proud of it too

So, while I will not tarnish the whole movement out of respect for some serious human beings still identifying with it, I will start calling out the hateful tribalistic wolves hiding in sheep clothing pretending they want a better govt when all they were after is the destruction of the nation. This is even more urgent since it appears to me that Peter Obi himself who inspired the movement in the first place remain helpless in the hate filled grasp of this few but very vocal elements in the Obidient movement .

For the record — and for the education of the ignorant — Akin BLED for Obidient. He SPENT MILLIONS of his personal funds supporting Peter Obi. He was ARRESTED and JAILED for days because of his stand for Peter Obi and the Obidient movement.

I know this because I was THERE. I worked closely with him during the election. And to see this filth now being thrown at him boils my blood to no end.

I won’t even waste time listing Akin’s bonafides — @renoomokri already did a solid job of that. But I know Akin. I have broken bread with him at his PENTHOUSE store on Admiralty Way — a place that most of these broke-ass Twitter rats couldn’t even afford to window-shop at, let alone rent a space in.

Those of us who stood with Peter Obi never asked for or expected anything from him. We SPENT OUR OWN MONEY. We MOBILIZED resources for him. Personally, I had Obidient directors in 22 states for Naija Lives Matter and FUNDED IT MYSELF — not one naira from Peter Obi or his so-called Labour Party, despite his alleged billions.

Akin did the same. Maybe even more.

We did it because that’s what we believed in for 2023. We didn’t care that a Yoruba man was running. In fact, many of us lost Yoruba friends because of Peter Obi. Akin lost even more — especially since many of his close friends were already deep in APC long before politics, and his decision ostracized him from powerful circles he had built for years.

Akin is an Arthur Andersen product. A consummate, accomplished professional. Even if he leaves Labour or Obidients tomorrow and joins APC, you people should be throwing him a send-off party, not disrespecting him like this.

I am LIVID.

Yes — I know the clowns dragging Akin don’t represent the Igbo people. But unfortunately, a disturbing number of loud-mouthed Igbo Twitter boys and girls have NOT condemned this filth — and that silence is shameful. Absolutely shameful.

The Obidient movement may have started as a lofty ideal, but seeing how many of you now carry yourselves, I’m honestly ashamed to have ever been associated with you. You do not represent what people like Akin and myself stood for.

Thank you for your comment. In 2015, I was invited to minister at a Redeemed Christian Church of God parish in Tennessee. After ministering, I had the opportunity to visit Mr. Akin Olaoye's residence. At the time, he lived in a million-dollar home.

Knowing I love and own exotic vehicles, he drove me around in his Maserati. One of his many vehicles.

I also know that he was, at that time, one of the contractors handling Obamacare for the Federal Government in Tennessee.

Therefore, to say that such a person joined the Obidient movement for money is not only fallacious but also a disservice to someone who I know spent much of his personal funds promoting the movement.

Akin is a serial entrepreneur with successful businesses in Nigeria and abroad. He has NEVER been connected to the government, and whatever he has is due to his business acumen.

Akin grew up in Port Harcourt among people of Igbo descent. He is a great admirer of Ndi'Igbo.

His father was a high-net-worth staff member of Shell Petroleum Development Corporation, so he grew up around wealth.

Perhaps he does not deserve such treatment.

It's really hard to understand the intentions of most members in that Obidient group. The group most times look like a setup to push out a very dangerous narratives against the Yorubas while hiding under the hate for Tinubu and anger for Nigerian politicians.
