Power supply has significantly improved nationwide, particularly in Band A areas, which represent about 15% of the market but consume 40% of the total energy output, along with some Band B areas. However, unless electricity rates reflect true market costs, over 80% of the market will continue to experience unreliable power. The president should take the bold step of fully deregulating the power sector. Despite existing subsidies, the disruptions caused by inconsistent supply far outweigh the benefits of cheap, subsidized electricity. The entire market must be metered, with all consumers charged rates that accurately reflect the cost of supply. Power can be made available to everyone, but it comes at a cost. Moreover, as Band A areas expand, economies of scale could drive prices down, making electricity more affordable over time. |

datola:Can u guess an adequate reason please. We are itching for that. We ought to hold our leaders accountable. There's a huge difference between promising and delivery. Anybody can promise. Anybody can give logical reasons why they can't deliver. The problem is ability to act. The coastal high way is great. But if the entire budget had been resourced for electricity, I think we would have gone far. There are several critical projects on electricity which are stalled with no completion in like forever. Is it competence or resources that stalled them? Omoku power plant, Egbema turbine project, etc have been on the pipeline for decades, yet no closure after hundreds of billions of naira are sink in. Why no continuity in governance? The Egbema plant was earmarked to power 5 Eastern states. |

Skudi:Nothing has improved! Instead it has gotten worse under this administration with the band A and B classification! Even most citizens on band A cannot boast of 5 hours of electricity daily and do not make the mistake of using a particular district, locality or state to justify the improvement of electricity! If up till this point the current shambolic minister of darkness is trying to convince us that our transmission line capacity has improved from 5MW to 5.5MW...hence it should be worth celebrating! Let's not even go into economy and security where this current administration has score minus zero! We all throught we had seen the worst of insecurity under Buhari but it seems Tinubu is very determined to outscore his predecessor in the department of ineptitude and incompetence! If a fraction of the number of deaths so far in the north central had happened under a PDP government, the likes of Tinubu and his media outlets would have gone guns blazing by condemning such deaths and blaming it on the then ruling party! The less said about this economy the better! |

Yankiss:How much of the earmarked N15 trillion do you think has been spent so far? Can you compare that to the amount spent on electricity subsidies or other investments in the same sector? Also, besides the Lagos-Calabar road, which is a PPP project with counterpart funding from the government and the rest from the private sector |

lionshare:Regurgitating silly rhetorics that has no effect on the common man, that's what agbado bandits are known for. Your so-called Band A and B has always been there. There has always been areas which receive longer time for power than other areas. The only thing your government did was to increase the cost of electricity in those areas, and then lump the areas together under "Bands". This doesn't mean they now get more power, it has always been the same. |

shinealight:Don’t mind him jare. One way or the other we must agree to be daft when it comes to those we support. Take you for example. Tinubu deceived you with 24 hours power supply and has failed woefully but is already campaigning for 2nd term. You were a fool the first time. Now the second time you have agreed to be fooled again by making excuses that nobody has done that in 65 years. But Tinubu made a fool of you by promising to do it and you were gullible. So you see my brother. You are all fools supporting different parties. Obidients foolishness is also very obvious. Same with this who support Atiku. I just love how all of us agree we are stupid. |

Exactly my line of thoughts. Why not complete and Omoku power stations, this two alone will make a huge difference and boost our electricity generation. These are two major projects that has been on for years with alot of billions into each. Na wa for dis government ehn Yankiss: |

The Last Administration permitted States to start generating Electricity via The Electricity Act of 2023 , why have these States not put in the works? If you study the economies of developed countries, you will realise that your Local and State Governments have a lot to do to better one's lives than The Federal. If you want to blame and curse The Elected Officials, blame the workers in the various agencies, parastatals as they are the ones who 'teach' our elected officials how to loot and leave the economy in shambles. |
