My opinion is that the East missed a big divine opportunity by not insisting on making Akanu Ibiam or Okpara their National leaders.

They were better leaders that Azikiwe who misfired until the East fell into Ojukwu's hand who was a far worse and vision less leader than himself

At least Azikiwe felt compassion for his people which Ojukwu was not capable of .


It comes down to the fact that Okpara and Akanu Ibiam had more fear of God than Azikiwe and despite all his faults Azikiwe definitely had more compassion for his people than Ojukwu who was not capable of truly sacrificial love

It was lack of love that made Ojukwu abandon his people at the Warfront and flee.

Once you put his talent for deceitful Propaganda aside Ojukwu had no sacrificial love for his people that was why he preferred 3 million to perish than himself to give up his ambition

Wickedfact:
The mistake Gowon made was declaring No Victor, No Vanquished.

In life, when you get victorious, you dominate. Gowon failed to dominate. That's why this kind of talk is arising.

What Gowon should have done was to try Ojukwu for war crimes and declare a death sentence on him in absentia, set up a war tribunal to conduct trials, jail and execute war criminals.

Then, set up up a reconciliation commission that will recommend that the Federal Government shall be responsible for reconstruction of the destroyed land AND it shall surreptitiously decide all leaders for the area.

That is how you dominate after victory.
