Substitute Bruno Henrique delivered a memorable performance as Flamengo staged a thrilling second-half comeback to defeat Chelsea 3-1 at the Club World Cup on Friday, News360 Nigeria reports.

The Brazilian side, backed by a passionate crowd of over 54,000 fans, turned the game on its head after trailing at halftime.

Pedro Neto had opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 13th minute, capitalizing on a defensive slip to give the English side an early lead.

Despite Flamengo’s attacking intent, they struggled to find a breakthrough before the interval.

The tide turned after the break when 34-year-old Bruno Henrique came off the bench in the 56th minute and made an instant impact.

He headed in the equaliser in the 62nd minute after a smart assist from Gonzalo Plata. Just three minutes later, Flamengo took the lead through defender Danilo, who finished clinically following a knockdown by Bruno Henrique from a corner.

Chelsea’s hopes of a comeback were dented when substitute Nicolas Jackson received a straight red card in the 68th minute for a reckless challenge on Ayrton Lucas.

Flamengo sealed the win seven minutes from time as Wallace Yan pounced on a loose ball to score the third goal, sending the Brazilian supporters into wild celebrations.

The victory extended the unbeaten run of South American teams in this year’s tournament to nine matches, following Botafogo’s surprise win over European champions Paris Saint-Germain a day earlier.

Chelsea, who began the competition with a victory over Los Angeles FC, will now look to bounce back in their final group game against Esperance of Tunisia.

Truth of the matter here be say, Nicolas Jackson Dey bet on himself to get red cards in game.

That guy should be investigated by the FA.

How can you get 2 straight red cards in less than 3 games played. Nothing anybody wan tell me, him Dey usually bet on himself

Chelsea’s performance was disappointing and lacked courage. They clearly need a highly creative midfielder. It’s unfortunate they’re not making the most of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s talent. He has real quality, yet he’s often left on the bench in favour of high-priced players.
Jackson on the other hand is Useless.

The truth is if the economies of South American countries were same as the top European nations, they'd have the best football leagues in the world cos they produce the best players - original content.

If African economies were as good as well, they'd be the second best after S.America. We'd have or had players like Yamal, Zidane, Mbappe, Dembele, Makelele, Doue, Saka etc

Europe is just cashing out on foreign talents.

We are facing Bayern group and not psg group. If we finish second in the group and Bayern finish top of there group which is most likely, then we will be playiing Bayern next

I hope people will understand why Pele is called the Greatest of all Time and how strong Santos were in Peles time. All the talk of Pele not playing in Europe and that downgrades his claim to greatness. Pele played against only the best of European teams when they played in Exhibition matches or what people call friendlies, as a historian put it those matches were not friendlies at all because there was so much at stake, European teams wanted to show their dominance over South America football in the 50's and 60's and South America football clubs wanted to prove equality. As teammates of Pele said they were more motivated playing against European teams than playing in the Brazilian league because beating a European team uplifted the club, Brazilian football and Brazil as a whole. The footballers all said they were representing Brazil who had very little global exposure in the 50's. So when you see Botafogo beating Psg and Flamingo beaten Chelsea the same thinking runs deep. The problem with the Brazilian national team is lack of ambition, Brazil already has a name at national football level and players are not ready to go the extra mile. Talent is very important but desperation will push the talented over the finish line. If you notice Messi only won the World cup when he changed his demeanour and became " ruthless" and " desperate" he was more serious with Barcelona. Ronaldo is always serious but lack of constant supply of quality players at national level has stalled his silverware at national level. One European Euro Cup and two nations league is great for a team with average players. What have England, Iceland, Germany, Denmark, Holland won in that time frame ? Especially England.

Maresca doesn't know what he's doing walai, even the starting line-up was a mess. I hate it when players are played outta position. Flamengo is not a small club, he probably underrated them. A South American club for that matter. James got no business playing in the midfield, you don't experiment when you ain't in a safe zone.

Just imagine the nonsense Sanchez was doing as usual yesterday, he gave the ball away on numerous occasions.......If Maresca doesn't sit up I see him getting fired soon.

I know any team can be beaten but the way Chelsea fans in Nigeria rate their team so high is alarming ..A team who managed to finish 4th or 5th in the just concluded season were boasting after winning the conference league cup..a league you have to play when you end a season in 7th and 8th position playing teams like bandits FC.

The club world cup have not even started they are already making mouth who does that..thank God season will soon start. Chelsea glory days is over it end in the Abramovich's era ...QED
