The Brazillian Serie A ended december but the Paulista A1 leagues resumed and lasted from January till March. They were not resting. So it is a fallacy.

They have been busier than the Europeans sef.

Truidstarr:
The Brazilian 2024 season ended on the 8th of December 2024. The new season resumed in March 2025. The Brazilian players have rested for about 3 months and are fresher. The European season just ended in May ( last month here). The same players played euro nations league and World Cup qualifiers. They are exhausted.

It's slightly became personal after Jackson told him to shut up on social media. Yes Mikel has been overly critical in some instances but Nicholas hasn't covered himself in glory too with his erratic performances.

Odunayaw:
Why is Mikel so hard on Jackson though? Iwobi had a red card similarly at afcon 21 and we would have broken the head of anyone who called it a stupid mistake

That Glorious Era of the 80s in brazillian football history especially at Club level.

Flamengo with Zico beat Liverpool 3-0 in the Battle of Champions at the Intercontinental cup final (Final between Champions of Europe and South America). This was 1981 after Liverpool conquered Europe.

Philosopher1979:
Most of the players of the 1970 brazilian team which is one of the greatest teams in history were in south american leagues and few played in Europe. Even those that played in Europe were produced in South America and did so later on. From 1950 to 1970 Brazil dominated the world cup with players from there league. The south american league was at par with europe till the 1990's. That is when there was an increase in the rate european leagues bought south american players. Even that great 1982 Brazilian world cup team was a product of the Brazilian league. All these Zico, falcao, socrates etc.. Its just that the best South American players now go to Europe early. Even now if the best South American players dont go to Europe i dont understand how European leagues will be superior.
Vinicious Junior rodrygo marqunhos etc in the sao paulo or botafogo will make them simply unbeatable to European teams. Botafago without those players can compete with european teams and now imagine them with those players.
Again most of the 1978 world cup and a large part of the 1986 world cup winning argentine teams were products of their league. Even maradona played in argentina until 22. Zico of brazil came to Europe in his mid twenties.
South America and Europe are the homes of football. All the other continents are trying to catch up.

I fully support South American teams dismantling European clubs cos European football is soulless.

Sheey una dey see the South Africa wey we wan beat?

Mamelodi Sundowns dominating Dortmund so far.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 5:25pm On Jun 21, 2025
Seeing Sundowns dominate possession against a 2nd level top Euro side like Dortmund is not surprising. This is how they play. They believe in having the ball and pinging it around till they find a crack.

Ulsan suffered in that first game... Sundowns played them off the park. Na speed counters or turnovers in possession give Ulsan chance at Sundowns' goal.

At the last Afcon, South Africa also held more of the ball against us.

Was Chiesa so bad that LFC can't wait to get him off their hands?
He is injury prone ..

And he looks like a good bargain for a player like osimhen .. osimhen in Liverpool would kill to impress by all cost...

You see how Sundowns conceeded 2 of the 3 goals.

1 from an error, another from a turnover in possession.

The timezone is the stumblingblock. Hopefully CAF can work more with CONMEBOL in terms of coach development
I fully support this. I don tire for machine, scientific football of Europe. Sometimes I used to think it's football generally that I find uninteresting but I don't think that's the case because I enjoy watching old football.

Moniter0:
this is where Osimhen comes in then. Osimhen doesn't rely on only midfield plays to get his goals, if the midfield is not supplying, he can get goals through other ways like pressing, winning penalties, scoring from "impossible" positions etc. That's why he manages to win trophies for his club, he gets the goals out of nothing and secures maximum points even when the rest of the team is being run over.
Osimhen has this die hard attitude which used to define our entire teams of the past. Now if you score Nigeria two goals, you don win. No further fighting spirit
