sadegivens0:In my experience, embassies asking for more documentation is usually a good sign that they are looking into your application, at least you have a fighting chance. I submitted my documents through DHL today, hoping for the best |

Omogbolahandc:I'm really sorry to hear that; it seems the rules are becoming stricter. Do you have any prior travel history? A denial despite 16 million POF is shocking. It feels like it's getting increasingly difficult for Nigerians to secure tourist visas. |

If they ask you to resend bank statement, it might be because they want to compare with the previous one you sent to them, if the fund therein are truly yours. Some people borrow fund for POF, and after submitting the statement of account to the embassy, they return the fund back to the owner. In this case, if the embassy ask you to resend the bank statement, the initial fund won’t be there. sadegivens0: |

The Brazilian embassy does not seem to have a uniform processing time. They treat some applications within weeks while some take months. How long since you submitted . and do you have travel history. sadegivens0: |

TAAG is cheaper but it is not something one will recommend, it is very discomforting. I booked the shorter layover flight(6hrs) at Launda, it was hell. We all say down for the duration of the layover, no where to lay down or sleep, no entertainment, no refreshment, nothing. After enduring that stress, we now embarked on a 8hrs straight flight from Launda to Sao Paulo. If you are not strong, you will fall sick. It is better to book the cheapest dates for Qatar airways(N1.6M), than to suffer with TAAG because of the little difference. Letsmove: |

14hrs from Doha to Sao Paulo in an economy class is hell too. SugarPg: |

It’s great that you’re planning ahead—Brazil is known for offering quality maternity care, and once your baby is born, the birth certificate is typically issued within a few days, while the passport process can take a couple of weeks depending on the region. |

14hrs straight flight is hellish. Though the 8hrs flight with TAAG from Launda to Sao Paulo is quite comfortable, better plane with personal TV screen. I don't know if Air maroc will have a better schedule. Letsmove: |

SugarPg:To be honest, TAAG economy class is the best i have ever flown and I'm a frequent flyer. The hardware was solid and i don't need any entertainment but their service was the most horrible i have ever experienced. A flight scheduled for 11am from Nigeria end up to 11pm with no explanation,no food nor shelter. As if that was not enough, they took us to a very horrible hotel in Luanda with no explanation still. |
| Re: Giving Birth In Brazil by SugarPg(m): 9:37am On Jun 22, 2025 |
With all those negative experiences , you still rated them the best economy class. Letsmove: |

I had a similar experience with TAAG in March. A departure of 1.40pm was delayed till 7.10pm with no explanation than the aircraft is coming which made me miss my connecting flight in Luanda. They also lodged us in a terrible hotel close to the airport without food at night or in the morning. Upon my return to Lagos, i wrote to them a letter demanding compensation for the delayed flight and lack of care. We are still dragging it. I am set to take them to court. Letsmove: |
| Re: Giving Birth In Brazil by dvs511: 1:16pm On Jun 22, 2025 |
He said the best he has ever flown. It means the other airlines he has used were even worse than the terrible experience he had with TAAG. SugarPg: |
| Re: Giving Birth In Brazil by Letsmove: 7:08pm On Jun 22, 2025 |
SugarPg:Yes.i have flown Qatar, Turkish, ET but the seat of TAAG is more spacious and more practical but their hospitality service was very horrible. Luanda to Sao Paulo flight was so comfortable. |
| Re: Giving Birth In Brazil by oluomoadeb: 1:18am On Jun 23, 2025 |
Letsmove:I can attest to this too. The flight is decent on its own but the service from check-in to transfer in Luanda is a huge mess. Now they are using a new Boeing 787 for their Sao Paulo route. The airport in Luanda has no basic amenities. |

Hello there, I am kind of wondering if there is a Brazilian Consulate in Abuja. Why is it that we don’t apply for Brazilian visas in Abuja ? Because everyone applied in Lagos and we are talking about 240million population it could be the reason why there are too many delays. Outside of Africa, Brazil has the largest population of people of African descent. Estimates suggest that Brazil has around 55.9 million people of African descent, making it the country with the largest African diaspora population. The United States also has a significant Black population, with over 46.4 million people of African descent. |

sadegivens0:I even stay in ABJ, and it felt ridiculous to me to have to send it to Lagos. I wanted to go to the Abuja embassy to ask, but all indications showed that it would be a waste of time. Hopefully, the delay will be for good news. |

You see what I am saying Nellyjo. Abuja is the capital of Nigeria and you have to mail your documents to Lagos. I really put the blame squarely on 9ja government. I am not so much concern about my application at the moment. Generally, I am just curious because I understand that, while both the Brazilian Embassy and a Brazilian Consulate represent Brazil in a foreign country, they have distinct roles and hierarchies. Because I know that they have 2 or more Consulate in other countries that are or not populated like ours. It’s the 240million population that baffles me and to expect that there won’t be any delays whatsoever. Nigeria is No. 6 in the world in times of population and in the near future could surpass the United States. This our government just signed $1 billion agric deal, with Brazil just yesterday or today. I guessed that we should be excited. Nellyjo, take for instance, =N=144,050 visa fees non refundable X 1000 Nigerians application every month =N=144,050,000 Nellyjo: |

Hello, please, when you submit your documents to the embassy. Is it customary to get an email that your documents have been received, or will you know when your application goes into review? |
| Re: Giving Birth In Brazil by sadegivens0: 4:20pm On Jun 27, 2025*. Modified: 5:31pm On Jun 27, 2025 |
First, your DHL tracking number will show that it was delivered to them. Second, to check status you go to https://formulario-mre.serpro.gov.br And I am hoping that you received confirmation from them before you sent your documents by courier. You are not going to get an email from them but if something is missing in your application they will send you email. See below for an example: Hello Jan Doe, Your visa application documents were received in our consulate without the mandatory manual visa application form. It is necessary that you fill out the manual visa application form herewith attached to this email for the continuation of your visa application processing. Regards, Consular Section, Brazilian Consulate-General Plot 257, Kofo Abayomi Street P.O. Box 72802 Victoria Island, Lagos Nigeria. Nellyjo: |

sadegivens0:Perfect, thank you. My DHL tracking says it was delivered on Tuesday, but I thought the consulate sent emails to verify that it was received. My status now says in review, though. Thanks for clarifying. Na God hand e dey now. |
| Re: Giving Birth In Brazil by sadegivens0: 5:49pm On Jun 27, 2025 |
If there is any thing missing or your application online is incomplete they will send you email. I really don’t know about the Consulate sending email every time they received your application. I am only speaking from what happened to me when I sent mine. Because I did not include the manual application and they sent me email the next day after they received my documents w/ attachment to print out the manual application. The ball is now in their court. Now it's a matter of waiting for their final decision or further instructions. Nellyjo: |

Let me add this info below: Based on information from the Brazilian Consulate in Lagos and other visa service providers, here's an estimation for your visa processing: * Official Stance from the Consulate (Lagos): The Consulate-General of Brazil in Lagos states that due to reduced capacity, the average time to process applications is about 30 to 90 days, depending on the application. Factors that can affect processing time: * Completeness of your application: Incomplete or incorrect information will lead to delays. * Workload of the Consulate: The Lagos consulate specifically mentions reduced capacity. * Need for additional administrative procedures or interviews: If your application requires further scrutiny, it will take longer. |

sadegivens0:Wahala, in that case, it's to relax and wait. No need to hurry or to check the status of the application all the time. Holding passports for that long, though, what if people need to apply for other visas or even travel, it's well. That's why I like my UK, 2weeks highest, my passport is ready cuz they know the implications of holding on to passports for so long. It is well. |
| Re: Giving Birth In Brazil by sadegivens0: 6:48pm On Jun 27, 2025 |
You are not lying about the UK. I want to say that we are human, we don’t want anxiety to kill us because 30 - 90 days feels forever and we are going to check status as many times as possible in a day. I have also read on this thread some people are waiting 6 months plus. While there's no guaranteed exact date, applying nearly 2.5 months in advance significantly increases your chances of having your visa processed in time. Therefore, checking your email regularly is paramount because they might send you an email saying they need you to send something either by courier or email. Nellyjo: |
