Zahra29:Which racist comments? About the UK becoming an island of strangers? I didn't think it was racist and I said that the attempt to equate it with all the things Badenough has said, is absurd. By the way, I dislike her, not hate. I think Starmer's current stance with regard to this conflict is foolish and misguided especially in light how how easily Trump has been willing to discard the 'special relationship' and I have said that. As to other incompetent loudmouths in various parties, we'll have to agree to disagree because I firmly believe Badenough’s track record as an incompetent loudmouth is one of a kind and no one in UK politics matches up to her. |

Raalsalghul:Sadly it’s not changing anytime soon. I Look at stories outta Nigeria and I just shake my head. My generation may not witness constant electricity and it’s a shame. |

Zahra29:They can’t cross the big blue Atlantic to the USA hence they are coming to a city near you. Many hotels to house them in clackton. |

LionInZion:😂 It’s only through wars they can maintain their edge over others especially in a world that’s becoming too competitive, how else do you want to show you have power? Those who were expecting Global peace with the current gang in White House were just living in fools paradise as they were deceived with his first tenure not realising wars were been fought for many years preceding that tenure by both democrats and republican administrations. |

lavida001:When I told you that those folks bring a lot of resource to the uk you were asking me what resource? There you have it, more workers (cheap labour) are needed hence the katakata 😂 |

Has anyone flown with KLM to Nigeria recently as a UK resident holding an eVisa? Is a transit visa required? Thanks. |

Arap:Conduct a search on this thread, this matter was dealt with a few months ago...... I think it was concluded that transit visa was not required (Don't quote me)....... 😂 |

| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Goke7: 2:34pm On Jun 22, 2025 |
lavida001:The jobs are in the villages and rural areas, very plenty and essential. That's where the shortages are. |

Goodenoch:Of course you didn't think it was racist - because it was Starmer who said it!!! Precisely my point😂 For the record, you've only said for the first time today (and only when pushed) that Starmer's stance is foolish etc. Outside of this vague criticism, you've never said anything negative about him or his policies or Uturns. But that's a good thing, we're supposed to pray for our leaders and not bash them. To the bolded, if you had more experience of British politic(ian)s you might think differently, but in any case it's of no consequence to me or anyone outside this forum. |

lavida001:Iranians have been crossing the English channel in their tens of thousands since Covid. It's not a new phenomenon. Thankfully I don't live anywhere near Dover, Clacton or any of the areas earmarked to house irregular migrants. Also, Labour is proposing moving them out of hotels and into rental accommodation paid for by the government. |

Zahra29:If that’s the government plans, don’t you think they will eventually be dispersed everywhere around cities, suburbs or boroughs and may eventually reach where you live. Unless you no longer live in the UK. |

justwise:Lol, sometimes I wonder if the man's got a spell on his supporters. They promoted him like some ancient god with magical power to every problem facing humanity. And any news/information not favourable to him was fake news to them, even when there were glaring evidence. |

| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Zahra29: 10:30pm On Jun 22, 2025 |
AKALAMAGBO:Erm no, that's not how it works. Location matters. Do you think the government can afford to house tens of thousands of migrants in towns where 3 bed properties average >> £600k like many parts of the south east? Never mind the fierce opposition they would face from the residents of these areas (including MPs). Nope, they strategically house them in much cheaper areas. They even tried to rehouse the survivors of the tragic 2017 Grenfell fire away from Kensington and even London, because the Grenfell site is prime real estate and the council saw an opportunity to tear it down and privatise it instead of retaining it for social housing use. |

Zahra29:I get that. It’s now like “needles in haystack” for past and present government to find a lasting solution controlling immigration by boats… As much as they’ve been able to control legal migration, the other seem difficult/challenging .. I wonder what reform plan would be. |

| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Zahra29: 12:00am On Jun 23, 2025 |
AKALAMAGBO:The key challenges are, in summary: 1. Legal hurdles - mainly due to human rights claims arising from the ECHR 2. Logistical hurdles - several countries refuse to take back their citizens. Most times the migrants destroy their passports which complicates matters if you can't prove where they're from and there's also no returns agreement in place. (Starmer has recently proposed visa restrictions for countries that refuse to cooperate on returns) 3. Until very recently, French police were forbidden from stopping migrants in water - they could only apprehend them on shore. The law has just been changed so that they can now intercept boats already in the water, which should have some impact on the numbers that make it across. |

AKALAMAGBO: Unfortunately, reform can only bark loudest from outside, if they had the opportunity to become the political party of the day, at the helm of affairs....... They would blame the weather, trump and immigrants, for lacklustre performances...... 🤣😂 |

lavida001:Hehe. Again, I'm not trying to convince you. You know yourself more than anyone and if you believe yourself to be inferior, then it's possible you're seeing something others are not. Where I draw the line is when you seek to extend that thought process to others. By the way, if your daughter returns from school with torn clothes, reporting she was beaten up, and told she was of lower value- what would you do? |
